Peternell
Dumb question gang. What are the differences between/how do you identfy an early and late 1974 260Z. I've got a 74 but I'm not sure which one I have (how lame is that) I think its the early 74 cause the blinkers were under the bumpers (heck I got a 50/50 chance of being right) Never been an issue until I was looking to get rear suspension parts. Thanks Larry (aka Peternell)
jimzdat
Hi Larry-yep you got yerself a early 74 -blinkers under bumper, narrow 240 style bumper as opposed to big, wide 280 style on the later models-If you go by production dates, I think the changeover happened in about May of 74, but I could also be totally wrong on that one

Drax240z
My 9/74 is a late 260z. Big bumpers, turn signals in grille area. Sometime between july and august!
Andrew Bayley
This is a mystery that will most likely never be solved. My early 260Z (small bumpers, turn signals under bumper) has a production date of 9/74. I dont' think there was a date that the plant switched over from one to the other. I think the early 260's were more "phased out" rather than suddenly switching to the late models. -Andy [ June 26, 2001: Message edited by: Andrew Bayley ]
