Mikelly
My starter is dragging now when I start the car up... is this inherrant of relocating a solenoid??? Anything I can do to fix it? It hangs for a brief moment upon startup and then its fine... Guest Anonymous
Nope, it shouldn't cause any sticking. Sounds like a problem with the ign switch? ------------------ Big Ed '82 280ZX Trubo, stock I think?
Mikelly
Well I noticed it both with a remote starter trigger, and with the starter button on my Moroso toggle box... Guest Anonymous
To be honest, I'm not sure I exactly understand what a remote solenoid is, but for what it's worth: When I went V8, I had lots of problems with the starter. I ended up solving it by fitting a starter relay. Are you sure you've got a good clean feed to the solenoid on the trigger side? The std. Datsun electrics are not that flash... Mikelly
Nope, I haven't removed the starter since I started having trouble and bought the new remote solenoid sold by summit. The starter wasn't dragging before I wired in the new remote solenoid, and FYI I don't have any factory wiring in this car. Re-wired it all back a few years ago... The shim isn't the issue either, but it must have something to do with the wiring on the hot side of the solenoid... I'll try that... ------------------ "I will not be a spectator in the sport of life!" mjk
Guest Anonymous
hummmmm... could you possible have left off a shim or two when you put the starter back on last? I'd check the shim just in case, how do the teeth look on the flex plate? ------------------ Big Ed '82 280ZX Trubo, stock I think?
Ray
Do you have a ground wire from the block to the battery or the chassis?????
Mikelly
I have a ground to the frame from the battery (2 actually) and a ground (3 actually) from multiple points on the engine, including the starter bolts, to the chassis. All are 0/1 gauge or better... Mike ------------------ "I will not be a spectator in the sport of life!" mjk
