Stock Z car weights???

RickB

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I am entering a race this weekend and they state that the car must weigh " within 150lb's of the OEM weight listed on vehicle"....

Hmm, the only weight listed on the vehicle is the GVRW.

I am looking for some documentation that I can print and carry with me in case they dispute me. They might not enjoy it if I do real well against the predominant Imports...then again they might like it icon_smile.gif

(BTW, My car weighs 2720 w/o driver) 76' 280Z.

FYI

Nice list Night Rider; thanks for going thru the trouble of posting all that info!

RickB, since your tras is OEM, the only "RedFlag" to watch out for are any descriptions w/in the rules that excludes a trans transplanted from one Mfg into Another...AKA: your GM 700 into a Datsun(?).

When is the Import Race...that would be pretty fun to watch a V8Z putting the smack down on the other cars.

If they allow V8's then why wouldnt they allow your 700?

I dont know the rule but to me if they allow V8's then they shouldn't exclude your trans either...good luck.

Kevin,

Kevin...not to worry, I called the promoters and I am in!

One prob though (possibly). They are going to allow Mustangs in as domestic compacts??? I could have my hands full with those Vortech 5.0's...hopefully they'll have traction probs (or stay home

  • 3 months later...

what were the major factors in the diff. weights.i see that the 240,260,and early 280 z's all had the same wheelbase. was it in the bumpers and sound deadener that was used or is it in other places. how would someone go about getting the weight back down to the lower 2000 lb. range. i'm still a newbie to the sight so any info would help in my selection. i know were there are both a 72 240 and a 77 280. the guy with the 240 wants a lot more than the guy with the 280 so thats why i am so intrested in this.

thanks biohzrd

when i need my car weight i just put some cardboard in my trunk and head to the paper recyclers. your car weighs in and then it weigh out. and if you bring enough cardboard then they even give you some change. icon_biggrin.gif but thats in downtown Los Angeles.... i know scrap metal facilities have scales too..

The government truck weigh stations around here are usually closed on Sundays, but when they are closed you can still drive over the scale and they put the meter in the window so that the truck drivers can check their weights. Maybe that is a common practice though Canada and the US? My 76 280z was just over 2900 lbs with me in it.
