lgoodson@pacbell.net
I have been told that a 78 tach will not work with a HEI ignition which is what I have. Both the LT1 and a 78 Tach. So if any one has one (75 to 77), I am in the market. PM me with info and price SOON Larry
hoov100
i have the stock tach out of my 73, that worked with HEI on the sbc. $40 shipped to your door, pics on request.
Administrators BRAAP Posted August 3, 2009 Administrators Share Posted August 3, 2009 Hoov, Does your '73 tach have the same guts as the 260-280-Z tach? I recall the 240 tachs being different in that they are triggered off the positive post of the coil vs the later tachs which are triggered from the negative post of the coil?... Just curious. lgoodson@pacbell.net
Hoov, I believe that I need to hook the tach up to the negative terminal on the coil. That is what JTR says and also my harness guy. So the 73 probably won't work. Thanks
hoov100
are you running an HEI distributor?
Administrators BRAAP Posted August 5, 2009 Administrators Share Posted August 5, 2009 Hoov, first post, he said he has an LT1, as such, NO dizzy! It's opti-spark behind the water pump..
Scott_M67
Not sure what these go for, I have a spare '77 tach and there is one on Ebay right now for $75.
lgoodson@pacbell.net
Scott, just to let you know. I have just found 3 tachs for sale from various people for $38 to $40 shipped. I just bought one so we'll see how it goes.
