tfreer85
Okay guys, I have an NHRA cage that was supposed to be spec'd before I bought this car. I'm having a problem getting my seats to fit in and clear the shoulder/side bar that runs along the door. What I'm wanting to do is keep the cage as safe as possible, and be able to clear most open track cage requirements. I don't so much care about fitting into any one particular racing group, more just general. I'm trying to decide between something like: Orignal Diagnol Bar: Change Option #1: Change Option #2: Change Option #3 (would only be 2 bars high rather than 3):
proxlamus©
well change option #2 looks like it would be the strongest... but how much money and how much time do you want to invest in this project? that will give you your answer pretty quick
johnc
Option 3 requires cutting/gutting the door. It does give more room but, depending on how far back the main hoop is from the door jamb, it could be difficult to fabricate. Jon M's thread about building the roll cage in his car goes over this issue in detail.
