Guest eric_503
Searched up what I could and ended up with an identification list. So that definatly helped. But I could not find anything on the cams marked E Ive never really played around with cams so its a learning experiance. http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/cam/cam.gif Using that list I noticed alot of the numbers are smaller then the rest. Im assuming this is going to give me a smoother idle? And for the rough idle I want something like the A cam? Also it shows the letter on the end of the cam,I havent taken the timing sprocket off so I'm not 100% sure but Im assuming its the same as whats on the back of the cam (e30 being on the front)....or am I way off? It wouldnt surprise me.
sweetleaf
Do a little searching. There's plenty of cam info on here.
Guest eric_503
Ripped it more apart, what I thought was an E because the cam wouldnt move is infact a 3. The original l24 engine has all the pollution pump on it so Im thinking it might be a california car. The cam in that one is an A cam with a 4 stamped on the back. Its an e31 head, with #2 on the front left of the head, and 139 stamped in on the front right. The other engine has an e88 head, with an A cam and a 3 stamped on it. Also on the head above one of the inlets it has SC stamped in. I will continue my search from before, but if anyone could point me in the right direction it would be appreciated.I just want to know which cam would do what, and I know the e31 head is the more valuable out of it. I had planned to use a l28 engine and replace the head and rub it with carbs instead of the fuel injection. Ive seen the n42 head is what should be used,is there a possibility of using the e31,or e88 head?
Xnke
The cams are stamped on the back of the cam. That's it. The numbers cast into the shaft are NOT cam profile numbers, just forging numbers to keep up with the raw, unground forgings. The A cam with a 4 in the back: that 4 is an A. Just stamped funny.
