Barfife
Been searching forums for a while and could still use some advice. I have a pristine 72 convertible conversion. And I have just had a 83 280zx (complete less engine) fall into my lap literally for almost nothing. The 83 is a 5 spd, a/c, non t-top, non turbo car with surface rust. I would like to swap the 5 spd trans, rear diff with disc brakes and front disc set up with master cylinder onto the 72. Questions: 1)Other than the obvious above list, what parts to I need to be sure to keep from the donor? 2)Can the entire rear end/brakes bolt under the S30? 3)Couldn't find anything about using front disc system, will it work? 4) Can I use the sway bars? After I pull my parts, I will part out the 83 280zx for almost nothing. Would love to trade parts or remaining car for assistance on my swap. The 83 has great: door panels, tail lights, headliner, all stainless (non t-top), glass, doors, hatch, interior panels. Dash is cracked and seats are dirty but not torn. Has a turbo hood. Light surface rust on many panels. Driver's front fender light damage. Car located in Carrollton, GA. Prefer parts picked up if possible. Thanks for your help. JMortensen
The drivetrain swaps over. The rest (including brakes) does not. When you pull the diff you don't get the brakes, because both have an independent suspension system.
