CamH
Hey guys, I am having a a really strange cooling problem on my 240Z with an L28ET with an Arizona Z Car radiator. Here it is: I first started messing with this about a week ago when the car started heating up in traffic. I took the radiator cap off when the car was cool, and the coolant level is at or near the top of the radiator. After starting the car, the engine seems to "suck" the coolant down to about half way in the radiator, like there is a bubble that got "burped" out of it. However, unlike when there is a bubble in the cooling system, when I shut the engine off, the coolant goes back up to the top of the radiator. I've talked to a few people that I know and nobody has ever heard of an engine doing that. I want to ensure that I always have plenty of coolant and am not risking damaging my engine. Does anyone have any clue how to resolve such an issue?
cygnusx1
Fill it back up when it's half empty. If it's too full, it will spit the water out of the overflow into the overflow tank. You are running an overflow tank right? If not, you need to add one so that the water can get sucked back into the radiator from the overflow tank when needed.
