az240z
I have done some searchin but could use some help. There used to be a place where you could put in an auto tranny tag ID and get info on the tranny. Does anyone know where I can do this. I have one that supposed to be out of a 240z with the tag, JAT model x2770. Need to find out if this is in fact a 3N71B tranny. Thanks in advance for your help. GrayZee
I don't know where the markings are but I believe the Hayne's service manuals used to tell you where to find the numbers near the front of the book. Assuming it IS from a 240z it SHOULD be a 3n71b
Warren
The x2770 is a JATCO 3N71B 3 speed auto tranny for a TURBO turbo car. The Non-Turbo designator is X2707. The X8703 was a 3 speed with with a lock up converter. ALL are 3N71B's. Refer to the 82 S130 microfiche for more info or verification. HowlerMonkey
You might also check for a white dot on the modulator. White dot usually means turbo tranny but some have been replaced by now that might not have the dot. Also...the 280zx turbo 3n71b has a larger diameter output shaft.........but the outside diameter of the yoke that goes into the tailshaft housing is the same as in non-turbos.....just a bigger hole.
