zx_drift
Hey I have a 280zx turbo (just swapped in) and the car idles nicely with 20" vacuum, but as soon as I push the gas, the car dies. Drops to 0" vacuum and just stalls. If I let off quick, it starts idling again, but if I hold down the throttle it dies completely. Any ideas? I really can't figure this out. kolonelklink87
What engine management are you using?
zx_drift
turbo ecu and harness
kolonelklink87
suspect AFM(?)... if you have access to another one try to replace for troubleshoot... check all the cabling (i hear sometimes people can put the connector on backwards) and test the unit as per FSM. Failing that try troubleshooting your problem with "the efi bible".
zx_drift
The MAF tested good (followed steps in FSM). I bypassed the air regulator, and it did manage to get off idle, but misses throughout the range (sounds like a Subaru). Any other ideas? Also, where is this EFI bible? Thanks. BleachZee
If its not the AFM, then you probably have one or several air leaks. Are you able to get it to idle at or below 1000 rpm? since you are using the turbo ECU and harness, you did also put in a 280ZX turbo AFM, right? (and distributor)
zx_drift
Yes, 81 distributor with CAS at the pulley, turbo AFM. It does idle, about 800 rpm or so. Hooked up at timing light and it is 20 BTDC, but if I open the throttle it retards (instead of advancing) down to 0 then the ignition cuts out pretty much.
