mr3000
Hi, so if the VH41 and VH45 are basically the same motor, would a VH45 crank in a VH41 be a stroker or not?
MAG58
Which VH41? There were two models, USDM and JDM. The latter of the two is considered by some to be the pinnacle of VH design due to it's cam drive and head design, and for them, yes the VH45 crank does make a stroker VH41. The USDM version was a cost cutting measure, not much related to either VH45 or the JDM VH41 and loses many of the things that makes the VH so appealing. That said, search around on NICO (I've not done VH searching here, but I'm sure there's also tons of info) and you should find all the answers you'll need. mr3000
Ok thanks!, If I can find a jdm engine and used the 45 crank what size would it be?
MAG58
Well, iirc you'd need the whole rotating assembly, as I believe the 41 is only destroked to remove 400cc's of displacement.
mr3000
ok, so would that just make it a 4.5L?

mr3000
yea I found that out after I posted,sorry!.....one more quick question, if I go with a 45, will the 41 plastic engine cover fit it?..it looks better
RedBeauty84ZX
What differences are there between the JDM and USDM VH45/41s???
MAG58
Iirc, JDM VH41 has a better designed chain tensioner, duplex chain, different head intake design. USDM VH41 has poor cast exhaust manifolds, no bottom girdle, weaker componets, etc.
RedBeauty84ZX
Interesting....how about the USDM vs JDM VH45s??
hannibal
The US and JDM VH45 are much more similar. Mostly differences in emissions stuff. I think both started with dual round intake ports then switched to oval ports. If you live in the US, go for the US VH45. Its the guys with access to JDM engines that consider swapping VH45 internals (crank, rods, and pistons) into the JDM VH41.
