justinzturbo
okay i went and bought an l28et for $200 as is with no harnesses or anything else... when i got it home i cleaned it and put a couple of teaspoons of oil in every spark plug hole, and compression tested it....the results were terrible... 0,30,150ish,150ish,150ish,150ish... i was hoping for a gasket blown between coolant passages... but when i took off the valve cover i noticed one of my rockers fell off...it scarred the can pretty good, do i need a new, cam or rockers??? what would cause that to happen???? and when i took off the head the head gasket looked okay...soooo can i tell with the head off if the rings are any good....i dont want to rering it.. CamH
I have seen the clips come off of the rockers before - that's probably what happened here. Put in new rockers and put in a new cam and run it. I'll bet that the rings are good - especially considering that you have ~150psi in 4 of the cylinders

justinzturbo
i forgot to mention that there was little goldish pieces which i was guessing was my valve guide on the cylinder with no compression. im also guessing that what made them stick??? do you guys agree? cygnusx1
Put some compressed air into the spark plug hole to find the leak. It sounds like you will need a head rebuild if one of your valve guides dropped chunks into the cylinder. Might even have a bent valve.
