Delasangre4231
I am trying to find a correct fuel pump for my chev. Its an 83 3/4 ton 4x4. Came with a 350, someone swapped in a 454 out of something 1976. The fuel pump just blew out and I now need a new one. I ordered one and it has the hose nipples on the wrong side and they interferes with the engine support. I have called numerous part stores and it seems a pump like the one that was in there don't exist. So my next option is a universal inline pump and a blockoff plate. First off do I remove the fuel pump pushrod and then put in the block off plate? Second is where can I get an inline pump that has an inlet and a return on one side and the feed line to the filter then carb on the other? hoov100
Have you tried getting a fuel pump for an older truck with a BBC? I have never heard of a stock chevy fuel pump with the inlet and outlet being faced backwards.
Delasangre4231
Being as the truck is 83 and engine is 76 i have been shopping for a 76 fuel pump. The reason I am leaning more toward the inline one is because even if I can find one thats right then it is still almost in the way of that crossmember. I couldn't get the pushrod out, so I just put the block off plate on. It didn't hurt anything, and I put another 30K miles on her before I sold her.
