datsun dave Posted February 17, 2010 Share Posted February 17, 2010 Going to install my RB26 engine into my 240z next week and have a Speed Shop Thagard Alloy Sump to install do i 1) Fit sump to the engine first then install engine. or 2) Install engine then fit the sump. amorfin Posted February 17, 2010 Share Posted February 17, 2010 I remember reading a post, from the people who made the Thaggard pan, saying that the engine would need to be installed first, then the pan. You should be able to find the thread. However, if you can bolt the pan on the engine first and then fit the engine in, as pat1 said, that would make things easier. Now that looks like a proper finished Thagard pan. If I'd have used my brain, I could have done my Thagard pan that way, hence saving $$ on buying current pan... Good job Dave! If it wasn't a pain to pull the pan I would try to gut mine and redo it like this one... oh and have to pull the oil pump off to convert to internal pickup again... argh!
