Guest Anonymous
i took the body modling off my car, and now i have a bunch of pinholes on each side...can i just bondo them over before i paint it? thanks
Guest Drewz
If you mig weld them properly you can use almost no filler in those spots that the chrome used to occupy. Remember that bodyfiller does absord a small amount of water with age.
Mike kZ
If you just use bondo it will crack and fall out. You could try laying fiberglass on the back of the hole, then bondo the front if you don't have a welder. But welding is the best way. blueovalz
A technique I've had great success with is to slightly dimple the holes (slightly indent the holes from the normal surface). Then the bondo will have a lot of area in which to bond to and prevent the hole from popping out of the center of the bondo. For a 1/8" hole a dimple about 3/4" in diameter and about an 1/8" deep(this is only an example) has worked well. It's not the purest way, but it will stay put. Owen
I can't remember the number but there is a certain wire good for welding thin metal and that is also easy to grind off. I would avoid bondo if at all possible, fiberglass sounds good though. Owen
BLKMGK
I've seen this done on two cars now - looks like JBWeld was used! Back it up with packing tape and slap it in the hole, let it set, then sand it flat. On my car there are actually drips inside where it ran down the insides (shrug). I used JB on "extra" holes in the engine bay myself - it came out okay but the paint didn't lay as well as I'd like.
