staledale
What materials can be used for making a plug? I'm making a rear deck, and rear fenders with flairs. They will be large pieces and cost will be a factor. Read some old posts and you guys talked about a foam, also what about some type of clay? thanks for any help. Jeff
The most common materials to make the original part, the plug, out of are foam, clay & wood. We have also used combinations of these materials. Wood backing for stability with foam applied sculpted to shape and clay for the fine detail. Check out www.smoothon.com for your supplies. Guest Anonymous
I highly recommend you buy one of the fiberglass fabrication and repair books out of Kit Car Magazine. It is like the JTR book when it comes to fiberglass. It gives lots of data that you wouldnt even think about.
