DavyZ
The vents to the rear look nice. I have to get used to the NACA(?)style vent in the front. The biggest concern I would have is the shape of it conflicting with the lines of the bulge on the hood. If the two don't "flow" nicely, it could come out looking awkward (hard to tell from the pic), which is a bummer once you have made the cuts. Hopefully some other guys will give their $0.02. This was photoshop or something right? Nice job! Davy
Kevin Shasteen
Jon, That's what I've envisioned my scoop looking like except I'ld want the hood scoop intake opening to be slightly smaller/kinda lower profile-ish if you will; something similar to a Viper. I like it...couldnt really tell about the side vents; did you leave them alone or alter them too(?). blueovalz
Jon, I like the bigger one better. The reason is that IF I were to do this, I would make the duct width match the power bulge width at the base. Then, with the "point" of the power bulge removed, the duct would "flow" into the lines of the Z car much better (As DavyZ so well brought up). Also, the top edge of the duct where the bulge begins could have the same hood angles (from the top view) as the front of the hood has, thus making a shallow point in the center of the top edge. And the upper leading edge sides of the bulge could curve forward as they drop down to meet the hood to match the curves of the headlight cut-outs (from a side view) or match the rake of the windshield. Anyway, my point is this may work very well if you put some thought into making it match the rest of the car in terms of angles, curves, and impact (often overlooked). Guest Anonymous
http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/zguy22000/vwp?.dir=/My+Photos&.src=ph&.dnm=vents3.jpg&.view=t&.done=http%3a//photos.yahoo.com/bc/zguy22000/lst%3f%26.dir=/My%2bPhotos%26.src=ph%26.view=t Version #3. I enhanced the hoods lines so it would be easier to see how everything fits together. I'm thinking that bigger is better, and I will focus on the right shape. Thanks guys! BTW, Terry I decided to go Ford after all. Jon
fl327
hey jumbo, did you by any chance measure how wide the power bulge is, i may be doing a hood scoop project of my own, btw-didnt you say you were moving to the frisco city by the bay???? Guest Anonymous
I measured it once, I think it's around 12" or so topside, base of buldge is prob 14" or so? Hey Fairlady, I heard you were moving to the East Bay? Wazzup with that??

Guest Anonymous
Neat ideas! I am putting vents in my hood similar to the rear ones you drew. Only I am cutting out only the front part of the rectangle and the two sides and bending the metal down to form the scoops. Kinda like upside down louvers. I thought that would give a neat look and stop some of the prying eyes yet still flow as much or maybe more air than just open holes. Guest KraZ4spd
Ok what about these. I got the idea from the 2001 Firehawk. The ram air option would be cool.Vents-Ram air

Guest Thurem
I personnally, don't like the naca style scoop in the middle off the bulge, I think it would look way nicer with a scoop on each side off the bulge. Or how about a huge reverse scoop sucking air out from behind the radiator, sort of like the sides on a sportbike. Thure
Guest Anonymous
Here's a version with a smaller naca duct. I think the duct can be made to conform with the hood buldge lines...hmmm. Worth a second look. The louvers would be rather large, 2" x 6" and should vent out lots of air. http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/zguy22000/vwp?.dir=/My+Photos&.src=ph&.dnm=vents2.jpg&.view=t&.done=http%3a//photos.yahoo.com/bc/zguy22000/lst%3f%26.dir=/My%2bPhotos%26.src=ph%26.view=t Yeah Davy, it's just a hack photoshop job.
