Anyone w/Lexan or Plexiglas exp?

I am considering the Z-car as a basis for a custom rebody/kitcar. It isn't set, and I'm still evaluating other donor cars and donor chassis, but the Z-car is a strong contender. It's in the size range I'm looking for, and it's cheap. I see Z's all the time between $500 and $750, and I could afford to botch one or two up during prototype development.

One thing I've been wanting to do is come up with a new top or canopy. This would involve all new glass, and therin lies some of my problems. I've been wondering if I could make do with Lexan or Plexiglas for my side and rear windows. In my experience with helmet visors and sportbike windscreens, these materials scratch very easily and visibility, particularily when hit with light at night, is near zero.

Has anyone run Lexan or Plexi windows in their street or race car on this board? Would appreciate any input I could get.

Thanks,

Andrew

I've used the lexan for the rear (smaller than OEM size) window and side windows. It will scratch, but with descent care, and the used of moisture when cleaning it, it works fine. I've had them for going on 12 years (rear window has a slight grey tint to it) with no visibility problems.
