the last one is what you really want to look into. look for wheel size, offset, and tyre size; there may be alot of pages, but there is a huge number of options that you can go with.

Yeah I've sleuthed through those and found good info, but they rarely say whether or not their suspension needed to be modified or the offset they are running etc etc.

The Wheel show off was definitely the most helpful even though I wish everyone posted their exact configurations.

These two resources along with being able to measure my current setup is what I think I will have to use.

Offset and Wheel width Clearance Calculator:

Tire change Calculator:

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

I guess I was hoping for a writeup on wheel fitment for a factory spec 240z. Something that includes brake caliper fitment and tire width/height, suspension etc. Maybe I'll have to write one myself if it doesn't exist.

All of the information that you want is already inthis forum you just have to look for it. The min backspacing that you can run with stock suspension is 4.5". I have seen people run anywhere from 13" to 18" diameter wheels, as well as 8" wide under stock fenders. Like I said all the info is there you just have to search for it in every thread.

I think he meant MAX...ps most of the wheels that came with these cars. 14x6 +10 are right around 3.5 bs...with flares a 3.5-4.5 BS on a 10" wheel looks damn good. But on the other side of things, i think that like he and others have stated 8" is about as big as it gets under the "everything stock" as far as body/suspension, and can be place pretty well with a low + offset even with small spacers, but with coils people have fit 8.5"...just keep looking around.
