Guest Anonymous
My floor pans are a little rusted,, when I cut out the cancer I would like to go ahead and make the adjustments to the tunnel to accomidate the 700r4. How much do I need to hammer, and where in the tunnel ? front? back? all the way?
Guest Anonymous
Most of the adjustments I had to make on my 73 were on the passenger side where the floor pan meets the trans tunnel about at the half way point on the trans. Just about 8-10 good licks with a 2.5 lb hammer. I know this is not precise but it was really not that much. Mark
MYRON
Takman, I cut the factory hangers out of mine. You may also have to cut out or beat in the area where the servo cap and the fluid lines go. My engine sits so far back and tight in the tunnel there was no way that you could get the coolant lines attached without cutting an access hole or dropping the tranny. Guest Anonymous
Hey Myron Once I get my shop complete and get a little farther along with the car, I am going to San Antonio to snag a tranny, I would like to see your car as long as I am that far south, I'll let ya know when I am going, should be a month or so , but ya know how that goes. But anyway, since I will have the floor pans cut out anyway, would I be safe and have PLENTY of room if I widen the tunnel by 1 1/2" or so on both sides? David Spillman
Mryon, Remember to check on gas pedal interference....with tunnel "adjustments"clearance is close. I realized my mistake at the end of my 2nd 1/8 mile run ever. Its amazing how time seems to excelerate when you are ready to slow down! Quick toe raises found the backside of pedal. I know the key was right there, but again I hadn't thought thru this scenario. David
