Meph
What was the lowest geared r200 long nose model made. I think the auto turbo 280zx's had 3.03 but what about open diffs that might be a little more common? Ive got a 3.54 thats pretty angry sounding, its about all that i can hear driving around and I'd like to put a new diff in preferably with lower gearing. Any other options out there? (I use to have a link to a page with a lot of differential ratios but its gone missing)
Kbhead
Check this link out it will tell you all the ratio's and what year and car they come from. http://www.geocities.com/inlinestroker/ratio.html
Dan Juday
That list is not complete (and I also think not entirely accurate), but the lowest R200 long nose open you will find is a 3.36. Not a common diff but they pop up once in a while. I just bought one here recently. Expect to pay 2-3 times the price of garden variety ratios like 3.54, 3.70, 3.90. Kbhead
Your probably correct, but I haven't see another list showing all the options.
Tony D
So that old Nissan Comp 3.08 wasn't real? NOW you might only find a 3.36 readily, but some years ago there was at least one ratio lower. R230 has the 2.90 set available....

350zdriver
I have a buddy that works for nissan in Houston. I wondered what my diff was on my 79 280zx. He got me in contact with a parts manager who looked up my car by year, model, and trans. He told me I had a r200 and told me as far as ratio I would have to find that myself. Believe it or not, not every 79 280zx manual trans has the same ratio. At least thats what he told me. So i would assume that any1 wondering what there diff was should try calling their local Nissan Plant (not dealership) and ask. They MIGHT be able to help you. As far as ur ratio take your diff cover off mark a tooth on ur pinion gear and start counting teeth as ur spin ur wheel to count them all. Then count the teeth on ur ring gear the same and divide the bigger number into the smaller number to get a 3. or 4. something. Thats ur ratio. I'm sure most of you know this already but if not here is the way to find it for sure. Also I believe that if you look at ur diff the cover will be a circle for the R200 and more like a rectangle with rounded corners for the R180. I hope this helps someone and GL. 350zdriver
But then I guess that what I said had nothing to do with what you asked
