datsun80
Hello all. I used to have an account here a long while ago and I think it was deleted when the site was updated or something. Anyway, as the title states I have a 1969 Olds 350 Rocket and a 1977ish (haven't looked up the numbers to verify yet) Chevy 350. I am having a hard time deciding upon which engine I should use for my 280zx. Which engine would be the better choice? I would like to pick the engine that has the highest potential for HP and torque while still being able to set the engine back as specified in the JTR manual. Is there really any performance differences between the two? Thanks for all your help.
Mike kZ
The Chevy would be easier to install, cheaper to build, and probably make more horsepower. I would go for the Chevy. Now if you want something different, go for the Olds
datsun80
I'm not looking to for something different. I am looking for the engine that has the most potential. I have been leaning towards the chevy but I just wanted to get some outside input on the matter. Thanks.
Administrators RTz Posted September 22, 2010 Administrators Share Posted September 22, 2010 Rocket Blocks were desirable at one time. My memory is fuzzy enough that I don't recall all the differences. The one that sticks out is a raised cam (for longer stroke cranks). BRAAP and grumpyvette would probably be good people to ping. Montezuma
Sell the Rocket motor to a Rat Rodder and drop in the Chevy motor that is my thoughts. The go fast parts for the Chevy are abundant and cheaper than any others. They say the cheapest HP gain out there is a 350 Chevy motor. datsun80
Well... there is only one thing to do. Anyone want to but a Rocket 350?
