Miles
Anyone out there experienced with replacing a window regulator in a 72 240Z? My manuals do not explain the steps clearly. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Miles
Guest Anonymous
It's not the toughest task on a Z, but no picnic. You have to remove the interior panel and weather-shield, then the bolts are exposed for what you have to undo and remove. I found it easier with the window frame removed completely from the door, although you might be able to wiggle the window enough to work it out of the door. IIRC, the crank portion is tackwelded to part of a larger frame, so you have to replace the whole assbly. The Wick Humble How to Restore Your Datsun Z book does a great job of explaining it w/ pix. If you don't have the book, you ought to pick it up, I've found it a great addition/substitute for the conventional maint manuals. Meanwhile, go to a Barnes & Noble or Borders, take a seat and read the section.
