82 turbo z Posted October 16, 2010 Share Posted October 16, 2010 Ok so today i went to go get some gas for the car and its happend before where it just makes the hissing sound like releasing pressure but this time when i started undoing the cap it starting hissing and then got louder and then shot gas all over me. wtf? is there a hose thats supposed to release pressure for the tank that might be clogged? wagon jon Posted October 16, 2010 Share Posted October 16, 2010 There is a hard line that goes from the gas tank to the charcoal canister in the engine bay. Now, if this line is plugged, then the incident you described is quite potential. If your exhaust pipe is too close to your gas tank under the car, causing the gas to "expand" its vapor, more pressure will build up and blow out. You can probably skip to my post #15, #18 and #19 to see whats-up. You also need to be sure that you have the proper fuel cap that has a vacuum check valve on the bottom.
