280-z.com
In looking for a non-EGR intake for my turbo swap, I found a guy selling a 1975 Z for dirt cheap. Was the non-egr available on all 75-76 280's or just certain production months? Thanks
Administrators BRAAP Posted October 29, 2010 Administrators Share Posted October 29, 2010 If the intake is the original OE intake, the NON EGR version of the N42 was available on NON california '75-'76 cars. If the car was destined/sold from a California show room, it will have EGR, i.e. the famed '70's California Emissions. That is the general rule of thumb, as always, exceptions may exist. Only way to know for sure is to go look for yourself. If the car is too far to go see in person, have the seller take pics of the intake, looking down for the top, preferably from the passenger side and or back side. Hope that helps, Paul
Tony D
Non-JDM cars as well, the emissions in Japan had EGR and Catalyst on all the domestic models of the car. European and Federal (49 State) cars have them in the years stated. Europe may have an extended availabiltiy, but I'm not sure. Maybe Frank 280ZX knows. They didn't have EGR on their Turbos, but just used a block-off plate (factory!) on a 'standard' Turbo intake in Europe. May have been similar for the N/A's in the same timeframe.
