KetchupNinja
The problem started when I added a Gumout fuel system cleaner to the tank. I followed the directions carefully and added it to a near empty tank and then filled her all the way up. I parked the car and after a few hours and tried to start it up with no success. I thought the fuel filter/fuel pump/injectors may have been clogged. The fuel pump and injectors were okay but the fuel filter had some gunk in it so I replaced it. Car started up fine but shuts off about 2 or 3 minutes later. Anyone else experience this situation? This is a 1978 280z stock L28e.
Geking
What is your fuel pressure when the car dies?
Snailed
If you have a pick up filter or sock in the tank that could be mostly clogged and causing this problem.
280z06
x2 what Snailed said. My 280z had a similar problem, but mostly lugging and not wanting to accelerate, thought it was a faulty fuel pump but turned out to be a clogged filter near the fuel pump. Double check then get back with us.
Pharaohabq
it's possible you dislodged a bunch of crap in the tank. I'd drain and pull the tank, Rinse it out well and inspect. That pickup could be all gummed up now, so even taking the tank to be vat cleaned might be a good solution. Test your pump with a long hose and a gas can. likely the "new" filter is now clogged too.
