80LS1T
I am new to the whole body kit scene and I was wondering how their kits attached to the body. I have a 80 ZX and I would like to get one of their kits. My step-dad has done body work before and I was just wondering if they are very hard to install? Thanks, Guy
Guest greimann
The ZX pieces they sell are all bolt on, screw on type. Maybe a little bonding agent for the bumper covers. You will still have to fit and trim a little to get a good fit, which may include filling some small gaps, but you don't have to do major body work and blending. I would also suggest that you spend some time surfacing and smoothing the fiberglass parts before final paint because they are naturally wavy and some have print through of the cloth. 80LS1T
That's what I was hopeing you would say! Thanks, Guy
Guest RENN TURTON
Please make sure you use bonding material as well as ribits(sp) to install your bodykit. If not you will have a problem with the ribbits poping with the flexing of your car(speed bumps). The bodyshop that did my car didn't bond my side skirts and as a result the fiberglass bondo over the ribbits kept falling away leaving a ugly fisheye (white circles)against a jet black PPG paint job. It is been redone as we speak for free, but it has been a big inconvenience. ie- rental cars at($749. per month) etc, etc. good luck and make sure they do it right the first time. 80LS1T
What are ribbits? And what do you mean use bonding material and ribbits? Guy
80LS1T
Can anybody tell me what I need to do when installing the body kit? I don't want any fish eyes or mistakes if I don't have to. Thanks, Guy

Guest greimann
Guy, I think Mr. RENN is refering to another type of kit that attaches in a way that requires concealing the attachemts. The ZX MSA kits attach to concealed areas like the fender lip, door sill or existing points. You will need to drill the body in those ares for screws, prefit and set the gaps, surface out the waves and paint. And I want to add, that the surfacing and gapping part is really important to making these pieces look like part of the car, instead of a "kit". I'm sure you have seen other cars (Hondas) with extensive body kits that have not been smoothed out. The new shiny paint reveals terrible ripples and waves that spoils the effect. Guest Anonymous
Greimann, Your car is the best looking ZX I have ever seen. I had an '80 and an '82 and if they looked half as good as yours I'd have kept them Tom
80LS1T
So it doesn't take a body shop guy to put these on then, just some time and effort! I have both! Just picked up my paint today so I will be painting the engine bay on saturday!!!!!!! Can't wait! But first I need to modify my radiator and fan mount. I will have pics up on Sunday most likely! Thanks a lot! Guy
