New 74' 260z Sr20det

Recommended Posts

hello everyone im new to the whole Z community, and from what i understand this forum is where i need to be so i can be pointed in the right direction. i have in my possesion, a 1974 Datsun 260z that has a body in great condition, but its been sitting for about 10 years. so im assuming that the engine has seized and warped along with the transmission, the rear end has seized. now i dont care much for interior. first stage is getting the car moving and in a timely manner. now ive read that a L28ET is the best bet. but finding one is hard. next in like is a SR20DET which i can get for cheap. tranny and and ECU with uncut harness for pretty cheap. only problem is. i need a guide so i can get all that i need to do it with no headaches. there is the problem. i cant find anything... so maybe one of you can guide me in the right direction. and maybe with bits of info i can peice it together to get it done.

i thank you for your time, and help.

Direction you want :) I doubt the motor is froze. I would fix it, get it running and read, read, read and read some more. Search, search and search some more. Once your done witht that and looked as much as you can, come up with some HP goals and the conditions in which you plan to use the HP (Track, Autocross, street) and go from there.

Likely, the tranny is fine if its a 4 speed, and the rear end is also fine just frozen brakes. This all being said if the car was just parked and sat.

Good luck, there is no best on hybridz, except maybe Tony D!
