Brian Lanes 302 kit

Hello all-

I just recieved my kit today from Brian and wanted to pass on to the group about the quality / fit and finish of it. Very professionally packaged and came complete with hardware and everything else needed to install the block. I also opted for the Tach converter, and it is also a high quality piece.

Kudos to you Brian, and I highly recommend his kit to anyone considering putting a 5.0 motor in their Z.

Hey-

Yes, it will fit with a stock fuel injection manifold, in fact with lots of room. I'm putting an Edelbrock aftermarket intake which is quite a bit taller and not sure if it is going to clear it or not, its really tight. The stock manifold that I have is off a 95 GT mustang, which is different from the previous generation FE manifolds.

I'm picking up a low mile 5.0 motor from the local salvage yard for stupid cheap but has anyone used the technoversions kit on a 280z? I see it just has the 240z/260z listed, I know for chevy mounting kits I've read you have to flatten the floor a bit for the trans mounts on the 280

My car is a 75 280Z. His kit is perfect for it. I tried to use the stock 5.0 wiring harness but gave up on reading schematics. Just didn't have the patience. Ended up buying a Ron Francis wiring harness. Worked great. Get his tach converter too to convert the V8 signal to the stock tach-

does anyone know if the kit will work with an 82 280zx? im super serious about dropping a 91 cobra motor into it. it already has the T5. just need a bit more information

No, it's not going to work as designed. The 280zx (S130) is a different animal from the first generation Z (S30). Brians kit might be a good starting point but most certainly is going to require serious modifications. So much so that you would likely be better off staring from scratch. Change to a Chevy motor and you can get a kit from JTR that will bolt in.

Also, not all T5 trannies are created equal. The T5 that came in your Z from Nissan will not work with a V8 conversion. Do some more searching and reading here and you'll get all the info you need.
