  1. The Q45 rearend should definitely handle 500 plus horses in my unqualified opinion. A few more HP combined with that stiff/caged car of yours should be more so of a terror. Corner speeds are higher then mine already with those soft springs. David
  2. Mark, What ya got planned? Have you considered shopping at those used NASCAR parts stores up the road? There's plenty of room for a Nitrous bottle in the back! David
  3. HI All, I've finally swapped out the front brakes for vented Wilwoods. the pedal feels fairly soft with plenty of travel. I'm looking for others who may have used ZX booster/master cylinder for this combo. I have still got the stock drums in the rear for the time being...How will this affect the equation? Any secrets to getting the max from the Zx parts? What if the vac. line is just plugged up,should increase pressure required to operate brake. Any previous experience greatly sought after. I have searched this subject on Zcar.com and found some helpful notes. Thanks, David
  4. HI Lee, The ZX hatch may be an Option,The Lever is at door sill,Removal from junker may be time consuming. David
  5. HI Dan, I converted to Toyotas/stock rotors last fall and have been unhappy since with braking. BUT A couple of days ago I pulled the master cylinder "replacing w/master/booster from ZX"...it evidently was leaking a little between it and the booster. Sooo I'd check out the master before dumping the brakes like I did. BTW my replacements look awesome "Wilwoods". they're just installed waiting on the aeroquip fittings to make up lines to adapt stock lines with calipers. BTW make sure the rear drums have been snugged up...adjusted out tight,if not already tried. David [This message has been edited by David Spillman (edited March 17, 2000).]
  6. The Z is made for curves IMO... I run a coilover set up from Ground Control,250/275LBS. F&R. Adjustable Tokicos.Camber Plates in front, about 2.2 degrees neg.camber. Front strut bar "from weedeater" ^). Running only front bar at present approx.7/8s. I plan on installing MSA front and rear sway bars soon. It handes great on the track, but requires soft sidewall tires for street.for any semblence of comfort. Poly bushings thruout entire car. Softer springs could be used for a little better ride.... David
  7. Sheeit, Guys,I figured eyeballing my new stuff "rockerarm/studs" that this would be a simple unscrew/replace an readjust....what's the talk of head machining here? these are labeled "small block"7/16ths. The girdle wouldn't help my studs breaking off at or above where threads start...right under the lock nut. David
  8. Hooker/Ceramic coated "shorties" 2-1/2" duals to the rear of tranny, down to 3 inch pipe out the back with 3"Flowmaster in stock location....If it wasn't so loud I think I'd have more people trying to pick on my 27 year old "import". David
  9. Mike, This dragster running nitro/with slicks, this seems extreme example for halfshaft viability...is that a word? How long did his last and were they stock or C/Vs? Concerned minds want to know...My gas lines are within reach in the event of Half shaft failure! David
  10. Wow..good advice here. My setup is a Comp Cam full roller kit from summit. The installed height of springs was just a tad under min.specs from comp. I have 20-30lbs more pressure then called for,rep for Comp Cam assured me that as long as coil clearance "binding" wasn't a issue I could run a little higher press. I have inspected push rods, and none show signs of bending. I've checked clearance of base of rocker arm with springs, retainers, etc. The only thing close to binding is were push rod comes up thru head...no room for larger pushrods, very tight clearance here. But that shouldn't cause a problem? Why would I only have failure of "2" studs both after driving 2-3 hours highway driving, and when decelerating...on two seperate occasions? I will be installing 7/16ths rocker arms & studs soon, if I can't find other reason for breakage. David
  11. okay guys, give me some advice on my setup...I'm also running a full roller engine,my problem has been broken rocker arm studs,I've checked coils for binding, plenty of room there. I do have close to 200 lbs.seared pressure/540-560 open pressures, should thesespring pressures be beaking off the tops of studs under low RPMs? Never broke one w/high revs..always at idle after 3-4 hour of drive time,"driving to the track" I've got 7/16ths studs I plan to replace standards with,My question is,should I be looking at other issues before running big studs? david
  12. Hi SpencZ, I've been running stock 240 Halfshafts w/R200 for more than 7500-8000 miles. Including 2 "driving schools",I don't do any drag racing to speak of,but having 700R4 tranny to soften shifting blows helps. I run a 3.36 LSD that OPM put together for me it works great, with no problems. Good Luck David
