Frank 280ZX and I were at Spa Historic 6-Hours one year... with a pocketful of beer Chits. Little white discs good for one beer.
Around Saturday afternoon before the racing started we went in search for more chits. "WHERE DID YOU PUT THEM ALL I GAVE YOU TWO HUNDRED!"
Frank and I looked at each other, kind of shocked thinking how the hell we drank 200 beers in roughly 48 hours.
"WHAT, WERE YOU BUYING FOR EVERYBODY IN THE TENT?"
Again, Frank and I looked at each other, seriously and he says "We didn't buy anybody anything...right? We wanted to with that guy in the Yellow car but he said no... Did...Did we drink these all by ourselves (Now somewhat concerned because of the number "200 Beers")
I looked at him, and said "They ARE small glasses!"
We turned and said together "YES! They are SMALL GLASSES!"
He gave us another 200 chits and said "These are all I have left, save some for after!"
That happens in Belgium.
haha.. great story.

Sorry I was working the event. Taking pictures slipped my mind. Some should be posted on the cars and coffee forum. I'll check and post a link.

Run the electric fans, it's the only way to go, ecm controlled.
Have to agree. I went one more step and added an electric water pump.

About to get the ball rolling on this kit finally. Been pricing materials and coming up with pricing. Right now we are looking at roughly:
Aluminum Mustache Bar with bushings and bolts: $200
Uprights (New and improved design from the pictures I have posted): $400
Strut Tubes to go with the uprights, ready to put on aftermarket coil over pieces( Can be setup for Koni's, Bilsteins, or any other strut ): $120
Front Diff Mount: $125
Dog Bone(Rear LCA Mounting point drop down): $75
Axle Adapters(I make flanges and weld them on, Explorer rear axles can be sourced from Ebay for $100 a pair, this price does not include the price of the axles): $250, $350ish by the time you buy the axles
Rotor Hat(The center bore needs opened up for the Intrepid Hubs): $25 + Cost of rotor hat
Total Cost for custom parts to do the swap: $1195
Now none of these prices are final, and hopefully I don't regret posting these, but I know many of you are interested in what this setup will cost, and this is a rought estimate. The odds are this is pretty close to right, but I won't know for sure until I begin to build them. Some parts may get cheaper, some may get more expensive.
Now as far as the front diff mount goes, we will see how this one does, if it ends up being an issue then we will go from there. There isn't really a good way to package a diff mount for these short nose diff, everything ends up acting as a lever. My diff mount that I've been running for the last year only bolts to one side of the tunnel, and I welded it on. If it were me, I would put a couple of stich welds on the front side of this diff mount. The welds would be easy to cut off if for some reason the mount ever needed to come out. But the mount is setup like the RT mount, it isn't in the way of anything, it should never need to come out again. If this mount was welded in, I don't see any issues with it.
Even though I'm out of school it seems like I'm still crazy busy, but I am hoping to start making some pieces next week to get this thing rolling.

very interested in this.

I am going to try and make it out there as well, going to be a mad house as usual. Seems like 6-6:30am is the time to show up for a good spot.
I can save you a spot. I work there.

Finally got it washed up. Taking it out to Cars and Coffee Dallas this Saturday.

That blue looks great on the Z .
thanks! it's Lamborghini Le Mans Blue. BTW.. Big thanks to member Kevin.pk for helping with my idle problem.
-
Finally got the front bumper and passenger seat in.

Don't think that will happen any time soon for me as it's a 2,000 mile drive each way now for me to get there. It was much more doable when I lived in Arlington. Guess you're safe for now.
good because i think i speed up when i hit my brakes haha

Yup, head down to Texas Motorplex in Ennis and then up to Motorsport Ranch in Cresson - or vice-versa. That'll definitely make a case for fully adjustable struts and/or LCA's.
Let me know what day you'll be at Cresson.
-
Sounds like the texas z's need to have a drag strip day.
only if we go to a road course too
-
Hybrid Z's just starting all over the place!! Awesome.

Congrats! the videos are great! do you need earplugs when you drive it? haha. I need to get someone to take some video for me while I drive mine.

Dang, that thing is sweet! Have you jacked each wheel up from the control arm to make sure you won't split a flare on a bump/launch/corner? Have you gotten into the car with your helmet on to ensure adequate helmet clearance-looks like you are taller than me. Love the car, I'm very jealous, especially of the dash and how well your doors close. Fantastic!
Thanks! There is wheel clearance, but it is close. I checked helmet clearance when I had the cage made. I also took the seat rails off to give me a bit more helmet room. Steering wheel is removable (must have) and thanks for noticing the dash/aim. I still need to paint it. Makes a horrible glare at the moment..

I've done some flag work for them and was running in the red run group/instructor group when I had the old motor in there. I like what they do so I gave them a bit of free advertisement lol. My wife and I need to attend another event now that the cars are running. Lately, I've just been instructing for our clients at Classic BMW.
