  1. Great Job Dreco! Nothing like an SU powered 3 liter! What needles are you using? SM's?

Did you weld your bumpers up or are they fiberglass repos? I'm getting my bumbers welded up right now... not cheep:-(.

Just a thought ... why not turbo your 3 liter, the torque would be awesome!

    Matt-

the needles are shaved.. SU's were bored and rebuilt by Rebello racing (so was the engine)... the bumper are fiberglass.. the thought of turbo has crossed my mind...money was tight last year, maybe this year will be different..

  2. I've never seen such a beautiful blue Z, This color is very inspiring maybe I'll paint mine simillar, I would've however went with a White side stripe, idk thats just my taste. Engine looks real clean and almost "Modern" Great job man, I've never been so impressed by a near stock Z. I like the body kit as well

Any interior changes? What seats are those in the car?

    Lights look real good too

THANKS... the paint is Lamborghini Murcialago (sp) Ocean Blue.. Seats are Corbeau Forza's.. but i'm getting some new black TopSpeed seats soon, hopefully.. the engine is a 3.0L stroker..

  3. Hi all' date=' thanks for all the good words. The mounts will be $250us and $18 for shipping in the US.

I only have two left, If I ran out, I can make some more. I only make small runs cause the billet alum is very expensive.

I also have front strut bars, strut spacers for sale.

    infinitymachining@shaw.ca

    Thanks

    Rick

is 250 for just motor mounts?? or is this with a tranny mount for early Z...I'm confused hahaaaa

  4. I Don't Like It.... because of the price they will try and charge you for the "kit".

If you have no means other than McKinney' date=' I guess you'll have to buy it.[/quote']

HAAHA, and I'll probably pay alot more than if I did it myself....but hey, this kit is for guys like me..... willing to pay more money for something I know I don't have the tools or the skills to do myself.... Trust me..if you saw my welds..you tell me to go buy the kit..hahahaa

  5. oh.. ok. does that bar thingie go up inside the trans tunnel? or does it hang down waiting to catch something?

also' date=' still on the trans mount:, what does everybody think about the weight of motor/trans being dependent on those single bolts to hold up the back end weight of the motor, and all the weight of the trans?[/quote']

what?? the stock one is doing the same thing... 2 bolts to hold the tranny and back of the engine. most of the weight is on the engine mounts.... why hate? just say you don't like the kit. if I go RB I'll probably buy those mounts... easier for me... I don't fabricate...I wrench and drive...

  6. Joel is using the stock RB26 AC on his 260Z. He has gone through alot of trouble to make it work. If I was to do it, I would use Vintage Air and fab brackets for the AC compressor myself.

I'll keep that in mind....but couldn't you just use the RB26 stock compressor and bracket?? Ii'm going to email Vintage Air and see what they have to say.

  7. If your car never had A/C then check out the new Vintage Air compact kits instead of scrounging around and trying to make one fit' date=' i think they have the new Gen II mini sysytem in their online catalog on page 18. It might save you time and it's geared more for the 134A gas than the more expensive and hard to find R12. The only thing i would assume you would fabricate are compressor mounts.

thanks, I found out about Vintage in another search attempt... I'm looking into it now...

  8. I live in Texas(hotter than hell)... I would like A/C if I do the RB swap in my 240Z....I've done a search and did not find a thread that described this in detail... I'll probably pay someone to do it, but I just wanted to know if hooking up the RB25 A/C to a 240Z(never had A/C) is hard to do....I wanted to factor this cost in my project only I have nothing to reference... does anyone have an RB swap with here with A/C???

  9. I'm just teasing' date=' LOL! Sounds like a "kit" for a B18 /Civic swap. hahaha.

You really need to make sure they have an oil pick-up for the swap. I'm talking about for RB26's. That has been an issue with previous RB26 swaps.

My issue with the "kit" is that Rick Wong already makes mounts, the exhaust will still need to be custom made, the driveshaft is a no-brainer, radiators very from stock hipo replacements(Stony) to dual pass aluminum NASCAR style(me and Joel), etc...

The only thing that is not yet "readily" available is a trans mount. And that will very slightly depending on the transmission used.[/quote']

Yes, but it sounds like this kit is more of a '1 stop shop' deal.. and that's what I like about it... I know it's hard for some of the members to fathom someone not knowing how to fabricate engine mounts ect. But with safety concerns and knowing my own limits... I'd prefer a kit, where all, or most of the 'math' has been done, even if it costs more. Besides, if there's a kit, the guru's here will get less questions asked by me haha

  10. Personal preference? Lol. There is a huge aftermarket for both Ford and Chevy engines... and you can buy parts for them at any Autozone/Kragen/Schucks(sp?)/Checkers/O'Reilly's...etc.

haha, well it was more of a sarcastic reference to chevy and ford engine purists (all in fun of course).

Honestly, I don't care what engine goes in my Z, as long as it's as fast as it looks haha. I love the 'soul' of my little L6 3.0L stroker, but it's just not as powerful as I would like it to be..

  11. wasn't bashing at all.... it was just a preference of mine... makes it easier for me if I'm getting parts from one manufacturer... that's all... Besides, I may end up with a V8 swap in the end. Its just that I have a few friends with shops who know the RB motors pretty well.

BTW, what make someone decide between Ford or Chevy???

  12. a group rate would be sweet!!.. I'll start getting my ducks in a row now. I've been going back and forth between deciding on a motor swap... this kit (when it comes out) may seal the deal.. I would like to keep the 240Z Nissan...

  13. appears that they have built the mounts for the earlier mount style with the two bolts going up into the chassis. QUOTE]

Thats what I was hoping for... I have the earlier one, and every 240Z I've seen with the swap had the later style. I'll definately be watching for this kit....
