  1. funnie before reading this post I was already looking at vortec heads and manafold. so can you get those at a salavge yard they are the ones with four bolts in the center? right? I was told that they put the 305 heads on for proformance it had a 488/488 cam in it, but it caused a lot of problems like killing a starter evertime it back lashed. so we went to a mild cam and that killed alot of power.
  2. okay I have a small block 350 bored 60 over flattop pistons stock stroke stock rods cermic full lenght headers eldbrock 750 carb with proformer intake 305 heads and a 305 balencer I also have a complete stock 454 with oval heads any one have predicted power outputs? for right now I am still trying to complete the big block transplant iam also pretty close. thanks
  3. That sucks I feel your pain I am 17 and almost done with a big block swamp and I am also doing wiring, well good thing a 75 chevy 454 doesnt require much wiring.
  4. the 4.6 is all aluminum so i think it would be beter, i was thinking of doing this swamp but am doing a big block chevy instead. if u need pictures i will get them 4 u since i have the same motor in my sleeper lincoln yes it is DOHC not SOHC like the whimpie GT's. jhhnwby@yahoo.com
  5. okay that is good to know I wont be makeing my own mounts does any one know where to get the mounts that provide the most space or pictures would be great to
  6. so they are not the same but will usally bolt up, well all I have is a big block or I would use a small block. next thing I have a th400 trans, do they make mounts that work? the oil pan doesnt hang down at all I think it is a differnt pan.well at least I know it has been done. all I plan on doing to the motor is new gaskets and a aftermarket carb.last and not least is there any where I can get gears so I don't peel through all 3 gears. thanks
  7. okay I have had my 280z for about a year now I finally got my hands on a 454 and a turbo 400 trans everthing works fine. I tested it in a 1975 chevy 1 ton and got it to peel through 1st and 2nd. well i need to know if the motor mounts are the same. they look the same in the pickup that i got the 454 out of, and my friend has the same year with a 350 in it. If it is then I can just order mounts for a small block. does anyone have pictures of the motor mounts or a diagram or experence. thanks , by the way a big block will fit fine with no cuting.
  8. well I jacked the car up and took a look If it does fit it will be very tight the biggest problem I found would be the engine hight, I don't think It will clear the stock hood. The other problem is all the wireing and figureing the computer out and seeing what sensors are manatory sorry but I lost my hope. well send me a privet message if anyone needs measurments or pictures.
  9. I found a 4.6 DOHC for $450 including the computer.
  10. what would the benifets of the 4.6 VS 350? any infomation would be helpful like the weight of a 350 vs 4.6 I do Know the 4.6 tends to (wind up) more. Speaking of crappy trannys my marks is going out again the last one went out in july. I have to change the O2 sensors so i will try to get measurments. What do you think of my Lincoln?
  11. as a owner of a mark VIII and a 280z I have had the mark VIII for about A year that is a very fast car 0-60 6.8 seconds Quarter mile in 15.3 at 98 MPH, put it this way mustangs are a joke racing.the engine I have is as tough as nails I red line it at 6,000 every day I am trying to decide on 4.6 DOHC or 350 small block chevy the 4.6 has out lasted 2 350's already if you do get a 4.6 do not get the mark VIII transmisson they are made to fail from the factory. get a mack I or something. for the exuast the stock exuast off of a Mark VIII should do fine haven't tested it but the mark engine bay is smaller than the 280z. here is my 1993 mark page http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/744970
