  4. I have a 1975 280z all of the supension is stock. I don't want to spend very much as the whole car to date has cost only a little under a thousand so it wouldn't make sence to spend 800 in coilovers. I m not afraid to cut and weld.
  5. Ok I have done the sbc swamp, I am sick and tired of having my car riding like crap. It seems like it bottoms out on the littlest bumps and it sits way to low I need to know what to buy, nothing to expensive and what spring rate is best for all around driving.
  6. Thats nice to know I am new to building hot rods and I thought I was leaning out at four grand, at least I wont have to tune the carb any more ( I wasn't having much luck any way) I just need to get it cooled down from 205 to about 170. Thanks grumpy.
  7. Well I finally got it running and I have been playing with the tach and I can't seem to get it working. I have used the search futcion just to find differn't color wires than I have. Does anyone know what color wires are what on a 75 280z?

  10. Okay I know these are crapy headers, but I am tired of my project sitting in the shop. I need to know if they will fit. I have 87 and up heads and they are rectangle port. and the headers are for oval port. will they bolt up? I don't expect them to be port matched or anything.   12. dont worry you will probally have to replace those pretty soon anyway then you can put the drag radials on and maybe strip out some rear gears.
  13. that should be a pretty good combo, praticly matinece free, you are going to be having fun making a hole for the vacum modulator or hammer a dent in the trans tunnel

  17. 700r4 is junk to me I have been running a built th350 for 7 years and had no problems but i decied to put in a 700r4 well i did and i went about 8 miles then it started slipping so i decied to finish it off so i put it in 3rd and held the engine at 6 grand till it felt like netrual then as you know i had a powerglide (only 2 gears out of four). so i procceded to tear it upwhat uoy do is to get going about 50 and slam it into reverse well i broke the input shaft but i was able to coast into the garge.
  18. auto paint will work, if you use bed liner there will be less enigne and road noise,due to the thickness
  19. yes i am here i have to use the schools computers to get on the internet and well the project is on hold and i am thinking about scraping the whole thing and going with a 87 305 with roller lifters and puting vortec heads and fuel injection on it with a 6 speed. since gas is going to be so high but i recently joined the navy for five years as a jet engine mechanic and will be getting 4,000.00 bouns as soon as i make it through basic so now i am waiting for the money to finish it.
  20. the heads are oval port and everone that seen it has said it is cool.

As for the progess on the big block the motor is mounted in the car the th400 trans needs a crossmember the engine needs block hugger headers and I am modifing a ford pickup gas tank to fit also need a drive shaft and I need a job to pay for all of this. I also would have done the small block conversion, but someone once told me if it was easy then it wouldn't be cool.
