  1. When I got the car the heater hose had already been looped, so this could be the problem? If the previous owner looped it couldnt that imply that the heater core was leaking? Are they hard to remove and repair/replace?
  2. Pick the lock, it's really easy. 4 pin or 5 pin, cant recall on mine. Also try to pry the hatch open. I thought mine wasnt unlocking until I picked it. Still wouldn't open.. Then I pryed it open. The rubber was melted together. PITA
  3. Not sure yet, going to button it up today and take it for a spin
  4. Installed a mechanical one and it works great but it is going to 220° at idle. Im letting it idle for 15-20 minutes. I know it should run pretty hot but is it suppose to be that hot?
  5. What is the difference between a mechanical and electrical gauge? And which one should I use on my z for the most accurate reading?
  6. Stuff happens I suppose, thanks for the "help"
  7. I have reason to believe its the gauge now. I put a new sensor in it and it does the same thing. It jumps to 260° right when I put it in drive. Once I throw it back to park it goes back down
  8. Everything was cleaned out when I took the water pump out. Put on the new and it definitly was flowing better than before. I watched the water flow through the radiator with the cap off. Flowed much better. But what bugs me is theres no fan shroud.. Is it going to help it cool at a stand still with a shroud on it? Also should I run a colder thermostat? I had a 195° one in it. Think I should throw in a 160° or 170°? I'm also going to change the sensor right below the thermostat housing to see if I get a better reading
  9. Havent re routed any cooling lines. Only replaced parts. The car didnt have a shroud when I got it. Did the 240z originally have one back then?
  10. With the thermostat out and running, it heats up in about 10-15 min. I dony have a fan shroud on the car either. Could this help direct the air flow it needs when sitting at idle?
  11. I have a 73 240z and im having overheating problems still. Changed the radiator, water pump, fan clutch, hoses, whole nine yards. It overheats even with the thermostat out at idle. I have no clue what else I can do to make it stay at a constant temperature. Anyone have suggestions? I had a post like this couple weeks ago and someone deleted it, can you please not delete it this time, really need some help here.
  12. Okay cool! I'm getting pictures together to show everyone my car and the project I have going.. haven't had much time but it will come soon! Thanks for the advice Alex731, I'll try it out
  13. Cant get my hatch to open , I can pick the lock and press it down but it doesnt open. Any ideas on how I can unlatch it to open it?
  14. Not sure where this leads to but it's a vacuum of some sort. It's off of my 1977 Datsun 280z. My car has been having some strange problems that were fixed, then a new problem arose. Anyone have some information as to where the "T" connection leads to?\ Seems to me that it leads from the manifold, the splits to the "T" and one goes to the vacuum on the distributor--no clue where the other end goes.
  15. Well I have checked the pedal itself from inside to the firewall, but I don't see any signs of it leaking from there.... I'll double check the slave cylinder later today. How hard is it to replace it? or do I just replace something simple without replacing the whole entire unit? Thanks for the feed back though.
  16. Well I filled up my Clutch Cylinder after bleeding the clutch and about 5 days later, the level of fluid went down about half of what you can top it off with. I checked under the car to see if it was dripping anywhere, nothing. Checked the cylinder, nothing... Also checked the slave cylinder, but still... Nothing?? Can someone point me in the direction of where I'm suppose to be checking??
  17. I recently just took off my front and rear bumper from my 77 280z. Also took off the shock absorbers in the front, but not the back yet. Is it possible to even put smaller bumpers on the car? The 240 bumpers seem to be the smallest of them all..Id rather just cut down my bumpers and slap them back on. Just wondering if that is worth the time, or should I just buy front and rear bumpers for it and just throw those on.
