  1. I built the same motor and got 165WHP with fuel injection. You can only run a max of 26deg timing to prevent pinging. Maybe a different cam and some head work will alow you to run more max advance.

    Pete

I've heard the term "pinging" many times amongst mechanic friends and otherwise. I' too afraid to ask friends what it means. Help?

  2. hooray

we have a generation of passive little sissies to look forward to.

even more so than my generation.

I'm glad my dad was a marine and beat me when i was being a sh** head when i was little.

    haha

  3. I've already asked every single "newbie question" you ever could, so just search through my old posts. haha.

I must add that it's hard to be "ricey" in the drifting scene because of the extreme skill in both tuning and driving it takes to drift. People that think intakes and simple bolt ons are tuning are in for a rough surprise when they realize how many axles and u joints they are goign to snap within a week or so of actual drifting.

    :]

  4. the wiring in her was a mess.

    But not unsalvageable.

Luckily, my dad is a freaking electrician, and swooped in and saved the day.

I was thinking about putting the two 6x9's i have behind the seat, because I'm lazy and ultimately dumb, when my father suggested we cut some holes out of the storage compartment bins and throw the speakers in there.

We did it, and it looks wonderful! I'll get some pics up sometime this week I promise.

I need to get some grills to avoid messing up the speakers, though.

Anywho, the old head unit had a little filter box with a fuse in it, and for some reason it didn't work when we tried to use it with the new head unit, so right now I'm stuck with a regular radio/tape deck until I figure out what the heck is wrong with the new alpine head unit I just bought.

Anywho, sorry to add to the clutter. I'm just really excited that we got something done.

In the same day, I also got rid of 90% of the rust and brake dust that has plagued my poor wheels in the past 20something years or so.

Up next on the list is replace the rear struts with KYB's from the 82 parts car, and replace the rear brake pads while we're at it.

    Me+dad=INVINCIBLE.

  5. oh and There is duct tape around the afm

    I don't know why

(remember, I just bought this car and am working out all the bugs that I can.)

for some reason it seems like i have to start her cold. If I drive up to autozone or something and shut it off it won't start for a long time after wards, and the exhaust manifold is incredibly hot.

it reminds me that I need a new header/exhaust
