  1. So I came into ownership of an RB20 for basically nothing. It's not bad, but I can get a crankshaft and connecting rods from an RB25 for $80 in mint condition.

So I want to install these into my 20 and make it a stroker.

I've done some research and they all say use the pistons from the 4AGE engine, 82mm. My question is do I have to use these pistons? What would happen if I just used the stock size pistons?

From my knowledge, stroker kits are only supposed to touch the stroke, not the bore. Doesn't going from 78mm (RB20 bore) to 82mm defeat the purpose of a stroker?

  2. Your right. But the idea behind it is to take out that nasty 180 degree turn that routes it over the top of the engine. My thinking is that the longer intake runner will be canceled by the simplified route. With this, I'm not planning to pick-up 100hp or anything (would be awesome if I could though! Ha), but it's to just simplify the air route later on when I start touching the 400hp numbers.

  3. Hey guys,

I thought this would be the appropriate place to put this. I was just wondering if there was any other members who have interest in this swap as well.

I ordered the RB26 ITB's and the intake plenum from Raw Brokerage and am planning to follow a buildup similar to the one seen here:

I was just wondering if there was any following in this because I will need some help with the plumbing; this will be new for me.

But more importantly, I was wondering if anyone would have interest in the flanges so they can do this swap themselves. The company I work for is a water-jet business, so cutting these flanges is quite easy. While they are cutting mine, (they'll be out of a high quality aluminum; so unless you know how to weld aluminum, I would take it to a pro-shop like I'm going to do) I was wondering if I should tell them to cut another few sets for you fellow members of HybridZ.

Of course they won't be free, but I don't have an idea on price at the moment. We are currently working on the pattern and porting. Just let me know what you think.

I plan to post pictures of my own chronicling the build. Should be a way to increase throttle response for around $700, shorten the turbo to intake piping and pick-up a few horses in the process.

    Thanks

  4. Okay, I've been looking for one of these VQ35DE's for a bit now.

Does anybody have one with the complete wiring harness, ECU, and manual transmission for around $1600?

Im in NC, and I've found one that's close, but it's FWD, and I want rear. All the others I've seen meeting my wants are postings from like 2006.

If nothing else, wheres a good place (besides ebay) to buy an engine like I'm looking for?

  5. I've been scrolling through the forum for a while and have only come across people doing the R34 skyline tailight swap.

I want to do this one, KPGC110 skyline tailights. The only problem is, where to get them in America? I have been looking for some time now, and haven't found anything but the panel for a lot of $$$$. Does anybody know where to get some of these?

Here is a picture of a 240Z with them equipped.

  6. Okay, I have been looking for a picture of this for a long time. I have a set of 17x9, 17x9.5 rotas (with ZG flares), and I want to know if a g nose would look fine on my 240Z or would the wheels be out of proportion? All I have found are 15 and 16 inch rims with g-nose's fitted. Has anyone found a picture of this?

  7. I was just wanting some input on how to go about replacing the rockers on my 280Z. I guess drill out the spot welds and pull it off? The new ones seem as though they have a piece that goes under the rear quarter panel; I'm replacing those to, do I just remove them as well to get the rockers off? How did anyone who's done it before do it?

  8. A few weeks ago, I ordered some floor support rail caps from Zedd Findings in Canada. These are really great pieces, but I was wondering how some of you would recommend installing them. The rails on my car now aren't rusty, just really badly dented from other people jacking the car. I was going to strip off the undercoat and put some POR-15 on the old rails and weld through primer on the new caps and weld them on and finish it off with a new batch of undercoat.

I just wanted to know if anyone has done this and if I need to cut out any of the old rail? I would think so, but I was just looking for some input.

These are the style rails I got.

  9. I haven't seen too many of these out there and I was just wondering what some people here think that an L28E out of a 280Z could bring?

Most of the ones that I have seen for sale are the turbo motors, and I haven't seen a non-turbo yet.

Just wanting some input as I'm getting ready to sell mine and I want to know what they could go for.

  10. Does anybody have one of these? (I need just the stock one that will plug in without any modification needed)

    (The five plug one)

  11. I have an engine that I'm trying to sell out of my '76 280Z. It's super clean and is still in the car and running. However, I don't really want to part it out, and I was trying to sell the transmission, radiator, and a few other things with it. Also, Shipping from NC to CA might be a bit high.

  12. Okay, I too have a question about the RB20 swaps.

I've looked and looked, but can't find a definite answer: Can I use the stock clutch master cylinder if I'm installing an RB20DET into my 1976 280Z?

And what about the slave, what's the travel that I need if I don't really want to pay $300 for a NISMO one?
