  1. Here's another point...the RB26 will be at your target HP levels in basically stock form whereas the L28ET will be nearing it's max potential.
  2. Would this check valve work to vent the fumes from the tank? If I blocked off all the lines and ran one line into the fender well with this on it...thoughts? Check Valve
  3. So how many guys in Dickies jackets will we see at the MSA show? I can just see it now...dozens of Z enthusiasts in their charcoal or blue eisenhower jacket with the Datsun patch on the back and the Hybrid Z patch on the front. Should we all get name patches for the other side?
  4. Welcome to my world. I was in the same boat about a month ago. I've done some research and talked to a few members here to try and figure things out. So far it looks like a $10K project depending on your level of involvement with the install. L28ET fits the existing mounts and you can reuse the majority of the items in the engine bay. RB swap will require engine & tranny mounts, driveshaft, intercooler, radiator, custom downpipe & exhaust, upgraded fuel delivery, and a few other items. ~$1.5 - $2.5K Items you'll probably need either way...engine rebuild kit, gaskets, rings. Engine& Tranny combo $4K - $5K Items from above $1.5K $2.5K Misc. $1K - $2K Total (estimate) $6.5K - $9.5K Don't forget about the need to upgrade other items like your differential, brakes, suspension, etc. I'm sure others with much more experience can chime in on this.
  5. I'd like one too if you have any left. PM me and I'll paypal you.
  6. Are going to be at the MSA show? If so, I'll see you then. If not, maybe I will drive down.
  7. Thanks, I somehow missed that thrread during my travels through the RB archives. This seems like a much better deal than Mckinney.
  8. I wasn't planning on buying thw harness from him. I figure I'll just rewire the whole car before I install my RB. That way the installer will have a nice clean harness to connect to.I do plan to buy the mounts from Mckinney. No sense in recreating the wheel.
  9. Mckinney has them for the RB20. They may have them for the RB25 as well.
  10. I was interested in the R34 RB26DETT that they have. I haven't seem too many of those since my search started. They also have a Neo 6 listed. Free shipping never entered into it.I'm trying to source a motor local to me in LA. If that doesn't work out then I'll look at Venus or Jazz. I was just trying to be prepared.
  11. I spoke with Mack at McKinney Motorsports the other day and he said he's building a harness to easily connect the RB to the 240Z. He may be able to work something up for your application.
  12. Doea anybody have any expeience with Jazz Pro Parts in Dallas, TX? I'd like to know if they are a reputable importer.
  13. If you wouldn't mind, could you possibly give a short tutorial on international shipping for the uninformed among us?I have family in Australia and thought that if I could line up the parts, I could have my uncle pick them up from the salvage yard and have it shipped back to Los Angeles. Couldn't I just have a motor and tranny crated up and dropped off at the UPS store in Sydney for shipment? Please share.
  14. I'm contemplating an RB swap and I'd like to find a strong engine to drop into my 240Z. Since I don't have a garage I'm looking for something that I drop in with as little trouble as possible. (I'm aware that this is a not simply a plug-and-play procedure) Katrina said that they did not currently have and RB26DETT engines in stock and she didn't know when they might be getting any either. Venus was also out. This is when I came up with the idea of just dealing with a shop in Australia. If you could talk with you friend, I'd appreciate it. If RB Motoring could also handle the install, I'd definately consider that. As I see it right now, I'd need the engine with ECU and harness and the tranny from a GTS. I can source the mounts and a differential myself. Am I missing anything?
  15. If I was looking for an RB26DETT, would there be any advantage to buying one from an Australian engine builder and then have it shipped to California for installation? My reasoning is that since the car was originally sold there, there should be a wealth of parts and qualified mechanics. I'd also like to take advantage of the exchange rate if at all possible. What are your thoughts on this? Also, is RB Motoring in any way related to this mess over at Motorex? I called them the other day and tried to talk with Kenny, as was suggested in another post. The receptionist was very unhelpful and it seemed like she wouldn't let me talk to anyone since I didn't already have a relationship with them. It just seemed odd and unprofessional.
  16. I'm getting a strange ticking noise in the engine after I turn the car off. Could this be a loose manifold issue?
  17. Thanks for the input. I'll stop by and check out the recommended shops and I'll stay away from Sunrise and Top-End. I'd love to find a competent Z mechanic in the valley.
  18. Has anybody ever used Sunrise Z Service in Glendale, CA? I need to find a mechanic in the Los Angeles area.
  19. I received mine on the 9th as well. Thanks for the great looking patches and prompt service. Now it's time to find a jacket. I wonder how many of these we'll see walking aroung at the MSA Nationals.
  20. So with all the recent head talk... Can anybody answer the above question? There are a few at the local yard and I might pick one up if I knew which one to take.
  21. Are there any differences between the years on these heads? I thought I had read that there was at one time.
