That last comparison shot next to the SUV is both hilarious and awesome. How bout a rear engine conversion?

I can see that as being the reason for it now. Thanks johnc,it was driving me nuts wondering what it was for.

Mine is about an inch from the bushing/sidewall of the bushing channel, just like the schematic in the catalog, and isn't connected to anything. Is it a safety precaution if the steering rack slides from side to side?I'm going to leave it right where it is,it's just making me scratch my head wondering what the heck it does!

I don't have pics yet of mine,But it is exactly like the one in the Black Dragon catalog 2006 Fall edition, page 84,just to the left of the #10 LH urethane rack mount bushing. It isn't in the Modern Motorsports catalog, and really dosen't seem to serve a purpose...

I was wondering what the U-clamp on my '71 Z on the steering rack was for,or if I'm the only one with one.

Although it still may be loud,a good shop vac with a good filter works well for the inital first clean and the crevises. It won't blow everything around as much, just keep the filter clean.Pour a small amount of water in the bottom of the vac to collect some of the dust before in gets blown out of the exaust end.Another loud method that dosen't use the compressor is a leafblower.Works good for blowing out the entire garage and just about everything in it.Floor,shelving,toolbox,Z,etc.

Try a heat gun w/ a fairly sharp chisel, and acetone for the remaider of the residue.Worked good for me.Wear a respirator, and have fun, because taking that stuff off rubs.

Carbon Fiber.Take a look at 240Hoke's Z and you'll be sold in a heartbeat...

If you're thinking about sectioning, new springs, struts,TIG welding the sections back together, etc, which is a small project in itself, you might as well save up a couple extra bucks and install the coilovers. From adjustability to larger range of tire/wheel combinations, sectioning and not installing coilovers seems redundant,IMO of course.I second that point on searching suspension/strut thread FAQ,and researching, and researching....

I would think to lighten the Z at the front and/or rear.Weight and strength on a Z in the center is never a bad thing...

Good thing noone got hurt is right.Possibly a suggestion, but I took my steering column apart, wasn't particularly sticking on me or anything, but the steering shaft inside the column appeared to be lubricated from the factory, mine was obviously old and dirty,so I cleaned everything and relubricated, and it seems 10x smoother to me.Might want to check that out...

Are the spot welded metal tabs (two on each side,) on the floor a couple inches in front of the front seat mount to hold floor mats in place?
71' 240Z BTW...

If that textured undercoating is anything like Herculiner in terms of texture, good luck keeping it clean.I'm thinking of reblasting my engine bay and starting over since the roughness rips apart sponges, and attracts dirt, dust, and grease like a magnet....

Anyone have photos of the above mentioned post or something similar to this front suspension setup?Sectioned 1.5",10" springs,BZ3099 Illuminas, etc.Possibly a photo of the upper isolator, spring seat, etc?

That thing just oozes cool.

Now you have to change your 3 sig photos at the bottom!Looks sweet:2thumbs:

I have a '92 Charvel Fusion Deluxe, and I'll never get rid of it.24 frets on a maple neck,Jackson pickups,Floyd Rose locking trem. It's sweet if you've got small fingers since the neck is rather slim.the body is a little beat, but the neck is straight as an arrow, and the action is incredibly low with no buzz, making it extremely easy to play.I'd recommend a Charvel, but are getting rare.I've been eyeballing a Gibson Studio at my local shop though...Whatever brand you get however, make sure the neck is straight and true, and have the shop 'set it up' for you(raising/lowering the action,checking/adjusting intonation, that type of thing.

I just recieved my coilover set from MM,(10" 225lb.front,10"250lb.rear)and I'm running Illuminas from the MR2. I've searched, and there were a posts about using the MR2 front strut bearing. With the stock configuration, the upper spring seat fits the ID if the stock bearing.Since MM comes with the alum. spring seat, with no provisions to fit any ID of any bearing,I'd like to know what the install procedures would be?Do I use the stock bearing and modify the stock spring seat to fit the mm alum.spring seat?Should I remove some rubber from the isolator so the alum.spring seat is inside the isolator resting on the bearing? The MM coilovers came with a bag of washers/spacers that are the same OD as the bearings and the same ID as the Illumina strut shaft, any opinions, links to old posts I may have overlooked,or information would be appreciated!

Just a couple shots of the sectioned coilovers, larger swaybar and what I did for added strength, rebuilt steering rack, adjustable rods and LCA's, poly bushings, a refurbished rim, etc..![IMGA0096.JPG](//forums.hybridz.org/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png)
