  1. hmm, Horrible seller! Doesn't know how to conduct business on eBay. SCAM ARTIST! Buyer edmondcop2b ( 1 ) Feb-22-06 23:144607183083
  2. looking at a photo of the engine, how could I tell?
  3. yep, has the auto -- and the vin is correct.
  4. Will do Looking at an '88 Camaro IROC -- with a 5.7L 350ci, 700r4 with 3.55 gears, still in the car and running -- $1,500 (I get the whole car)
  5. Anyone know anything about these? I'm probably picking up a nice running one with 77,xxx miles on it... I'm stripping out the engine & tranny and dropping it into the Z... fun stuff.. How are the engines? .. thanks.
  6. someone over on zcar just got two Z's off of craigslist... one of them having 350z rims.
  7. break in and steal it! .. no ... not seriously.. you'll get caught... but it'd be nice to have.
  8. Thanks for the suggestions I'm not looking to purchase a crate motor -- too much $$ that I don't have right now. A buddy of mine who actually knows what he's doing will be doing much of the mechanic work -- he works for a local chevy stealership (or telling me what to do) -- gotta learn somehow I'll search lots tonight when I have more time (when I get home) -- I'm at work right now, so I'm checking back and forth -- I've got a pretty good understanding of the L-Series engines from the tons of research I did for a project like that ($$$$$). Right now I'm just trying to get an engine in & get the car running as per Mikelly's suggestion here: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=107777 I can figure out a great biuld after it's up and running... and that's when I'll really bug ya with the questions.. heh. Thanks alot for the help
  9. This is the reply I got from the guy. Sorry if I was confusing, I was just stating that with the gears and my transmission what the engine ran, to give everyone an approximate estimate on the horsepower. Those parts were never for sell. As for the 355. It is a 350 bored .030 over. It has forged pistons. It is in "shortblock" status now. the bottom end is all together. Oil pan is off. Timing chain cover is off. Camshaft is out. But they will be included. I sold the heads/rocker arms/valve covers/intake today. Very low mileage shortblock. Only run less than 500 miles total with no problems. Only reason taken out is for a bigger motor. Engine code is 3970010. It is a 2 bolt main, however it has been studded with ARP studs for super strength(good as or "even better") than a 4 bolt. The crank and rods have been completely balanced to handle high rpm. For it to run, you would need new gaskets, heads, intake and carb. I will sell all that stuff mentioned for 650. Call me sometime tomorrow if possible. I looked up area code 33922 and that says Bokeelia. That is way south of me. I am in the Tampa Bay area. This is an excellent deal on a practically new shortblock that is worth a solid 800 bucks. So I would hope you could come to pick it up, however we could possibly meet somewhere to help you out. Call to make arrangements or for more info. Make sure to reference the 355 motor. Thanks. Keep in mind I'm just looking to make it run, not biuld it yet -- How much would the new gaskets, heads, intake and carb cost me?
  10. Oh, Great! even better -- I'd eventually like a 383, so all I'd have to do is add the crank.... perfect.. Thanks again..
  11. I figured it was something like that.... thanks for the quick reply -- so with the 400 crankshaft, it would be a 388? ...
  12. Saw this ad: Forged pistons and a mild cam. Heads and Intake were taken off the car today, they are GM 1.94 valve Vortec Iron heads, with matching Performer RPM intake. Has Late Model Centerbolt style valve covers(stock height). Was looking to get 1000 OBO for the setup. I will keep the stock oil pan and Carb. but rest will go. Was running when in my blazer, lookin to invest this in my other motor being built. So basically, you can see what ur getting, and you just need head gaskets and intake gaskets to put the motor back together. Engine with 4:30 gears 3600 stall and 700R4 Transmission I'm waiting for a reply, if it's good I'll purchase it -- but the thing it, I didn't know there was a 355ci made... I thought the only three's were the 327, 350 from Chevy (I don't believe they produced a 383 (that's a 350 w/a 400 crankshaft?) Sorry, don't know too much about v8's in general.
  13. whoa, what's the weight on that thing? -- that's a big a$$ block I'm sure ... What part of florida are you in?
  14. Thanks for the input... I might just do that... I saw a sample at hurcliner stuff at the store, and it's not pleasing to the eye... so I'll most likely be using gloss black...fun fun.. Thanks again,
  15. I was able to undercoat a good portion of the bottom of the car today, and tomorrow I'm going to start cleaning out the engine bay and lining it -- should I use the paint on liner (Herculiner or the can spray on stuff by dupicolor (8$ per can, around 4 cans needed) Thanks, Chad
  16. hey, that's one of the new SZ models, they're sharp... and easy as hell to fix... I got to play with one of the production models at work..
  17. Wow, this is the best 40$ investment I've ever made -- this book is full of crap, that I'd never thought I want to know. thanks for the input
  18. sounds good, what's the part number on them? 3990332?
  19. Just got the JTR book today, I've been reading it for about 40 minutes and taking notes, I'm about halfway through it. this swap looks simple enough... any advice? I'm ordering the $275 kit next week. Tomorrow I'll finish cleaning the engine bay according to the pictures (good thing is, when I got the Z, it had no engine in the bay -- just lots of crap -- the hardwork is done)
  20. Wow, that looks great, once I get the engine and everything in, I'm def. getting one.
  21. After weighing my options I've decieded that i'm going to get the engine out of a 1994 Caprice with the 5.7L 350 -- I'm not sure exactly what kind of engine it has (LT1, L98, ?? -- etc) but I do know they're common around here, and they have the 700r4 tranny that I'm looking for -- I've already got a friend of mine who has agreed to wire it up. I'm still waiting for the JTR book to arrive -- but I'd just like to know if the JTR mounts would fit it (I'm assuming they will) & are there any other things I need to take into consideration? It turns out my employer (Sony) is SCREWING me out of re-emburisment (3k) for school because they're laying us all off -- and since the announcement was before the end of the term I don't get anything.... at least I get a 1k sign on bonus with a new company... Thanks, Lvcien
  22. Sheesh, give it some time -- your inital post was only 6 Hours Ago -- Keep in mind it's 7 in CA now, and lots of the guys work -- they're just now getting online... (I'm assuming most guys are from that timezone just because that's were the rot free Z's are)
  23. bolt in? Awesome... JTR's are the ones I'm getting... buddy of mine had his welded in.. lol..
  24. so basically remove everything and start from scratch? Go with a black lined engine bay and an undecided exterior color... Nice bay though.
