  1. This would happen to be the blue one on CL the other day for 500 bucks?
  2. I bought my z when I was a senior in highschool. I picked it up for 800 bucks and towed it home. I had it running the next day but it was burning oil so I rebuilt the motor (my first). Over about three years it was taken apart and.put together countless times and my plans changed for the car just as many. I ended up selling the car to my friends father and he was going to make a scarab clone. About ten years later I ask my girlfriend to marry me and she happened to be my friends sister. Her father had done nothing with the car so he gave it back to me as sort of a wedding present. You know what they say,"if you let something go and it comes back to you then it is truely yours."
  3. With a low power welder and thin wire like you are using the speed you move and the angle you hold the pistol in relation to your work is very important. Move slowly and push the weld along by pointing the tip in the direction you are moving. Hold it so the angle the wire hits the puddle is about 45'. The picture above shows stitching where you trigger in the weld. Your welder would have a hard time doing this with anything more than 16ga. When you are practicing check the back side of the metal. You will know you are getting good penetration if the surface is slightly raised. On thicker material you will want to bevel the edges to promote penetration and work the puddle back and forth. Im sure I am leaving out some details and everyone has their preferred techniques.
  4. Looking at the godspeeds id be inclined to get two pair of rears. Leaving the original mounts makes the instal look kind of rigged. By the looks of it, if you used two rear sets you could chop the bottoms off, debur the edges and you would have a clean tube with no "extra parts"
  5. I am thinking of doing a sr20det swap into my 240z. I've noticed that all the ones I've seen done have a high mounted turbo. Is this necessary? I was hoping to spare some money by keeping it as stock as possible.
  6. So how fast do you have to be going to be required to have one? I've been warned about speed before but I was on my streetbike.
  7. Saw this wile browsing. Thought it was pretty cool. http://phoenix.craigslist.org/cph/cto/2174528765.html
  8. Lol. I'd play gt5 but I never liked the PS controller and I can't play with steering wheel controllers because I tend to break them as I'm not used to a wheel that is .5 turns lock to lock.
  9. I've been playing the crap out of forza 3 and was curious if anyone else was into it. I've been trying to find a site that could help me with car setups aswell.
  10. Here is my 1972 240z. I got it almost ten years ago. My original plan was to hop up the original motor with a cam, header and triple carbs but after all that the motor self destructed due to my impatience. I then wanted to build a small block Ford but before I could gather the parts I wanted I sold it. Now ten years later I got it back. Granted I had to merry the daughter of the man I sold it to, but its more than worth it. Its been sitting sense the day I sold it and over that time a packrat has made it its home. It will be a long term project to say the least, but I'm now much more educated and patient so as soon as I get the funding it will become a vh45de powered monster. I've sense evicted the packrat and stripped the interior but I thought it would be funny to show what I started with.
  11. My first truck was a 91 Dodge 3/4 ton with a Cummings and a 5 speed. It got 19 - 22 depending on my mood, but that was back when diesel fuel was cheaper than gasoline. The last tank I ran through my Titan gave me 17.3 MPG. I never reved higher than 2k and on long stretches of down hill I popped it in neutral. I couldn't see myself driving like this all the time, it was more of an experiment than anything.
  12. I was just curious what the other Titan drivers out there where getting for MPG. I have an 05 se 2wd That is bone stock. When I first got it I was getting 17 MPG average. This summer it was between 15 and 16 but never worse than low 15s. I do alot of freeway driving, atleast 40 miles a week day.
  13. Is there any advantage to having an OBDII motor or is it just a different plug for tuning / diagnostics?
  14. That helps tremendously. Thank-you wise one for taking pity on me =P Now I just need to figure how much it will cost to rebuild one of these beasts. Every one I've found is 160k miles +, but that will have to wait till I have access to a computer with internet access. Living out in the middle of nowhere suck the balls.
  15. If I were to buy a complete car to use as a donor, is there a year range that would be best? I can pick up a complete, running 90's q45 here in AZ for about 1k with high miles. I thought this would be a wise way to go rather than picking up a jdm motor for around 2x That price. Please don't rag on me for not using the search feature on the website. It doesn't work well sense I'm browsing on me cell phone.
  16. Thanks, I wasn't sure of the engine # so that should speed up my search. My only access to the web is my phone right now so I tend to get lazy when it comes to research. Its a pain to really do anything useful on a 2" x 3.5" screen.
  17. I was curious if anyone has done anything with the older 6s out of the early supras or cresida (sp? ) I'm still thinking about what powerplant I want for my 240. I want something somewhat cheap and always liked the look of the dohc six. I know I could go with something more modern but somehing I can pull out of a junkyard for a few huno sounds more appealing.
