  1. more fun might need facebook to see it, but oh well.
  2. so went to an open lot i go to for breaking in new and breaking old **** and had some friends tag along and they played with their cars. someone took vid. its recently been sealcoated so its a tad easier to get it sideways.
  3. waiting for action pics from friends. they suck and never send me anything. lower when i slot the rear crossmember. flipping tires is getting old fast.
  4. and this is how the car looks as of RIGHT NOW. bada bing bada boom.
  5. anyway, continuing my story. ran some 527's up front for a good while, still have them on while i'm waiting for my other shitty wheels to come in. and got some 530's for the rears. cars sits like so: i like the height, could go lower, but we'll see when aero is finally put on the car. made the engine bay all purty - removed EVERYTHING vacuum controlled. no idle control, no air regulator, no cruise control, etc. stripped her bare. but, i don't have a super decent picture of engine bay, so i'll leave you with this, i guess. and another engine shot and the tall fat kid next to the police is me. yeah.
  6. Hi! I'm Allen. Well, I guess it all started a few years ago, just started to get into it a bit more as of late so I figured why not make a thread on my progress. Not sure if you guys will even read anything here, I'm just going to make this my little work blog thing. SO - had a few cars in my time. Dozens of Mercedes, a Honda here and a BMW there. Flipping cars for fun since I was 15. The ONE car that got me into drifting had to have been my 92 300CE Mercedes. I converted that one to be one of the only ones in the US with a 5 speed. Figure a kid with a 5 speed and LSD could do some damage. Here was the car in its "prime" I guess. I never had pictures of my EXACT car, but this was basically an exact replica. I bought my wheels from this dude too. So after cruising around, etc the LSD wouldn't hold anymore and I had an open diff welded. Playing around with that I slammed into a curb one day and ruined my entire drivers side rear. Had 3 piece AMGs on the car that were destroyed. Sold the 3 remaining wheels, traded my welded diff, and got a V8 suspension to put onto the car. From there, stopped sliding around - for the most part. Then somewhere along the line I graduated high school and my dad gave me his old 82 Datsun 280ZX project car. It ran, it drove, it was a work in progress. I figure 16 years of sitting around would be a total pain in my ass, but the car was mine for nothing. This is basically the car AS I first got it. Had a massive exhaust leak, massive boost leak, but it was fully built and ran. Sat down with the old man to try and figure out what was done to the car so I can set out my game plan. Little did he know I planned on turning the car into a drift missile. Nobody really does it from what I can tell (and for good reason I'm sure) but I can only see myself sliding this car. Well sweet! Engine after sitting for 16 years Being a kid with no job, had the car sit for a good year or two before I could finally start tearing into it. Got it into my garage and I was ready to start ripping it apart Plans were coils, wheels, weld diff, drift. HAD NO idea what I was in for, but whatever, I kept at it and wasn't stressing. Fixed the exhaust and intake leaks, stripped the car of its exhaust. Bored out the intake manifold, dewebbed intake manifold, need more fuel for moar boost so I had a pallnet rail, evo intercooler, 300ZX ecu and maf set up as blow through. Welded the rear end. Probably the coolest thing that was done are the 240sx coilovers. Rears slipped right in, fronts had to be welded on. COOL, never have done anything like that, but it works and it's pretty interesting. THE LOWZ - with a shitty bash bar time progressed and I got a front apron for it then i got wherls - they're xxrs i know. but i figure i'll be caring less about the wheels and going harder in my driving. SO then i got the fronts mounted lol and thats where i was at for a while. i'll update as i get bored i guess
  7. All 4 of my spare MAF sensors give me the same scenario. Chance of them all being bad lol One thing I thought of though, but it doesn't seem like Z31 guys have an issue with, is I am running my MAF after the turbo as a blow through set up. Might be fussing about with the readings with initial boost pressure? I could try setting up my MAF as suck though and see what happens.
  8. To organize myself better I'll be starting a new post here. What has been done thus far, everything is NEW unless otherwise noted: - Cap and rotor - spark plugs - spark plug wires - 440cc Toyota Supra injectors - pallnet fuel rail - adjustable fuel pressure regulator [set to 35psi (or near there) at idle, unplugged goes to 40psi] - fuel filter - new fuel lines - timing set to 20* - 1985 300ZX ECU and MAF - throttle position sensor - GM HEI ignition module - completely shaved intake manifold - no egr, no idle controls, nothing. - O2 sensor - intake/exhaust manifold gasket - 2.25" intercooler piping to mitsubishi EVO 9 intercooler - Cylinder heat temp sensor - manual boost controller if there's anything else that i can think of that i've done, i'll be sure to post that up. Now my problem, From standing start, I go WOT, it'll set off normally and as soon as boost starts to build (2-3psi) my wideband goes pegged to full lean (22.4) and the car just stops reving, if I let off the throttle a bit it'll get going again but it'll be very lean (17-18 on wideband), if i ease throttle pressure through the revs, I'll build boost and i'll eventually get past the lean spot which occurs from about 2500-3000 rpm and i'll be on my merry way burning tires at 11psi of boost and the wideband showing AFR's of about 11-12 which is perfect. if i go WOT from a standing start and the lean spot hits, i'll shift into second right away and the problem still happens buck the car will buck. if i let my foot off the throttle really quickly and reapply WOT, the problem will go away and i'll be boosting away. doing a 3rd gear pull, the problem is less noticeable. it'll go lean, spike once or twice and then take off. shifting into 4th after a pull gives me no problems. neither does a 4th or 5th gear pull. trying to get a good baseline here. everything is adjusted like it should be, my fuel pressures good as far as i know (i don't know what it is while i'm driving). any ideas?
  9. I have my fuel pressure adjusted to factory spec. It jumps to high 30s/40 when vacuum is disconnected from it, just like factory. I am not, however, able to check my fuel pressure while I'm driving. So I'm not entirely sure where it sits while I hit boost on initial throttle. I have a brand new fuel filter on there so I wouldn't imagine that to be the problem. Is there a slim chance that my fuel pump is on its way out?
  10. i had a 17x10 up front with -25 offset. JUST cleared my coilover. im more comfortable with my 17x9 -35. gives me like an inch of clearance to do what i please. sitting like that gave me a wheel that was dead flush with the fender lip
  11. adjusted the TPS. it revs up a lot nicer in neutral and drive. it was a good mm or two off of adjustment from the idle contact. now it just opens with a touch of the throttle. still has the lean spot. any ideas? to appease, when i do manage to get around the lean spot. this was just me burning off the rest of some bald federals i had on and using my hydro.
  12. i'll paypal $5 to whomever leads me through the correct diagnosis and repair of the lean spot in any more than half - 3/4 throttle.
  13. OKAY, made some progress with the car and payed attention to my afrs in regards to that hesitation. leaned out the MAF screw and she's a pretty wild beast in all sorts. my idle afrs are just about perfect. (14.5-14.9) my cruising afrs are in the same place. deceleration afrs jump around from (15.5-17.9 or so which is good). HARD acceleration afrs on 10-12psi of boost are in the 12s-11s with the occasional dip in the 10s (really dont mind that, thats just about perfect). car pulls harder than ever and has no problem breaking traction. HOWEVER, i have a lean spike. either in first or second gears, from a stop i'll slam the throttle down, car will pull nicely until it gets to about 5psi boost or so, roughly that RPM range 2500-3500 i'll get a massive lean spike that builds with boost. i'm pegging out my innovate WB at 22.4 lean and the car is bucking. i can baby the throttle through and build boost slowly and get over the lean spike, but running lean while doing so. if i drive calmly, there's no lean spots. the cars a cruiser. any ideas? as before, everything is damn SPOT on with this thing. once it gets into full boost it pulls like a bat out of the hell. its awesome.
  14. just looking for the rear hubs where the studs are pressed into. both sides please! let me know what you have with shipping to 60634. cheers!
  15. is that the bre spoiler for a s30 on there? Looks damn good
  16. the problem with this is, i dont mind the extra fuel when i'm driving. the car has balls when i'm in boost. i get fairly decent fuel mileage when on the highway (again, afr's are near perfect). the problem is my initial hesitation. from idle, i can jab the throttle and it'll hesitate and then rev up very quickly. if i dont have that initial hesitation, then i'll be golden and ultimately happy with the car. season's just about done here in the midwest, so i have until feb/march to get on a solution or new management system
  17. yup, drift car. fully caged, etc etc etc. when pictures from the event pop up i'll post them up. why not. its a z31 hot wire maf set up. If i dont come up with any sort of solution i'll cut my losses with this whole thing and just spring for megasquirt. should have done it from the get-go, but you live and you learn, right
  18. Okay, well took the car to an event and it did fairly well. Car has some severe hesitation issues right now. Had to extend my drift with my hydro ebrake before the car even figured it had enough balls to break the wheels loose. Here's where I'm at with everything. Z31T ecu swap - maf is set up as a blow through after the turbo New chts New plugs/wires/cap/rotor GM hei ignition module Boost controller - boost is at 14-16 lbs Fuel pressure is 32psi at idle Supra 440 injectors - low impedance (matches ecu) - new Bosch ev1 connectors for them New tps Shaved intake manifold - no egr, no idle control, nothing. 3" exhaust straight thru New O2 that matches ecu Timing is at 20* btdc Evo intercooler with 2.25 intercooler piping List goes on, anything new you can think of for the engine has been replaced. My issue, cruising on the highway around 65 I get damn near perfect afr's on my wideBand. on load it drops down to about 9-11 (rich), when I let of the gas, you'd imagine on deceleration afr's would jump to around 19-22, however, it doesn't. My afr's are around 15-16 when I let of the gas. I'm burning a lot more fuel than I need to be right now and I can't figure out why. Additionally, when I'm on the gas, it hesitates and then gets going. I feel as if I'm flooding the engine with fuel and I'm not burning it well enough. There's something a miss. Don't get me wrong, the power feels good, but there's a hesitation while on the gas and what feels like a flat spot in power while in boost.
  19. As the title says, I need an ecu from a 84 - 86 300ZX Turbo car. It doesn't matter if its from an automatic or manual car. Federal please, I can not use a california ECU. Please call or text me 773 706 9210 Allen or PM here is fine too. Thanks!
  20. OKAY well. there's a wire that comes off of the CAS and goes to what seems to be a capacitor. any details on this? i'm at an utter loss. car is down getting a bunch of new stuff and i'd rather have everything squared away in the garage rather than on the track
  21. There's a male spade connector on the CAS mounted on the dizzy on my 83 motor. Can anyone provide me with a picture of that spade connector and what the hell that spade connector goes to/function. Thank you!
  22. trust me, your chassis is safe from being a consumable by drifters. in short, the chassis sucks. alot of time has to be put into the chassis before its even somewhat considered competitive in drifting. regardless, i'll put up some picture of the interior, etc in a few days. i have to finish and paint the interior first.
  23. i dont like them that much really. they're just a cheap wheel for me to destroy. just waiting on my new front wheels to come in. coilover friendly offset and a 3.5" lip. cant wait. what interior? LOL Anybody need a MINT black carpet kit that was purchased NEW in 94 for $80 shipped? rather, the rest of the black interior as well. count your blessings and be happy your car is just getting THAT much more rare.
  24. why not. had it for a few years, why not post SOMETHING about it. 82 Turbo Automatic car to start i guess 83 Motor Z28 Camaro T5 - dont ask me how, was my dads project back in its heyday. pallnet fuel rail Evo intercooler z31 ecu/maf run as blow through corbeau fx1 pro seat rjs racing harness momo steering hub / ebay for the lulz drift steering wheel. (loved the feel, cant wait to get my grip royal wheel) begi RRFPR 240SX coilovers/camber plates, etc welded r180 (LOL) itsproper acrylic 6" shift knobby some stupid 17x10 cheap wheels with horrid offsets - no care, drift spare. 83 dash and tails 240sx rear discs ISIS hydro ebrake broke **** racing full drift 12 pt roll cage (got about 6 points in so far lol) lotus yellow exterior (need to repaint) black painted and stripped interior with teal cage Still a glorious work in progress. basically retaining what i can in terms of datsun for drifting. i cant see myself sliding anything else and i love how the car handles. from what it was to where i'm getting it, what a ride. as much of a car as it is mine, i'd love to keep it as a tribute for my father as it was his old ride that he put together in his old shop. having him see my progress everyday, i see the cringing when the car slides into walls and taps goofy 240's while tandem runs (slammed a curb at about 45 in a 4 car train, was absolute magic LOL) , but i also see a bit of happiness in there, that his old beast is just getting romped. maybe i'll have vids, drift pics soon. waiting on our resident drift film bros to get it done. bring on the purists. as a quick little thank you note here: purepontiacdude - saw pictures of your steering knuckle stuff somewhere, helped me out a ton. obvious easy was obvious.
