  1. edelbrocks are some of the greates carbs to work on. yes you can just take the top plate off and cleane it up and change jets.
  2. would i have to run a box or could i get away with a carb hat.
  3. does any one know if i can use the edelbrock carbs on a turbo setup (blow through) if so what changes need to be made. thanks in advance. chris
  4. sorry for the typographical error in my reply i did a search for "shorty headers" to see if anyone has used them or had any luck with them. i know that most people are using block huggers but i was just looking for information on shorty headers. i thought i could get some help on the subject not get criticized. but thanks anyway.
  5. do a search for shortty headers and see what you come up with that would help. funny ha ha.
  6. i did a search and did not find any info. i was wondering if any one has used shorty headers on their z. the jtr book does not say anything about them and i was just wondering if anyone could lend me some info. here is a pic of the ones im looking at.
  7. the length on the 4l60e is 30 3/4 and the length on the t56 is 26.37 both have the same spline count. hope this will help you.
  8. sorry to here about your block. i have built two 509 block 400's and i have never had them crack one me. i hope you can get a replacement soon and get it back on the road.
  9. well like i said, i do have 2 on the stand and both i have built. on is a stock 95 454 the other is a high performance 402 i.e. no stock peanut ports and no dish pistons and definitely no stock cam. the 402 pushed my 79 1/2 tun truck to low 14 sec. times i think it should motivate a 280z just fine and definitely more so then my .030 400 sbc and if you are interested in the 400, RPMS drop me a line.
  10. it was just a thought to toss out there didnt think it was a reall good idea but just something to ponder. no i think im goig to go 2 1/2 because i have a set of flowmaster 40 series on the shelf. andpluss i cant bend anything over 2 1/2 with my bender. i tryed but it just crushed the tubing(oops).
  11. i would say im familiar with the bbc. i have grown up around chevys all my life and i have built a couple. though every big block i have swapped has always been in full size chevy cars and trucks. the only reason that i'm considering the bb swap is because i love the torque that you get with just a stock bb (and for the wow factor). but like i said in a previous post i have 2 bb and a 400 sitting on a stand and i'm just trying to decide witch one i want to go with.
  12. this is probably a real dumb question but i thought i would ask. could i take the crossmember out of a small chevy car with a v8 and put it in z car so i wouldnt have to worry about custom mounts. i was looking at some of the ford swaps and i seen someone puting in a custom crossmember and i just had a brain storm.
  13. i dont know if this is where i need to post this but, has ratsun.com moved or changed. i cant seem to access the site. it gives me a blank screen.i want to do the bbc swap and i need all the info i can get.
  14. well i was thinking 454 or 396 only because i have both sitting on a stand. and i also have a th400 to go behind them. i also have a 400sb but it needs to be freshend up. and like the saying goes "theres no replacement for displacement".
  15. the882 came from a 350 and i do not think you can use them on the 307 because of the combustion chambers i think the valves will hit the walls.
  16. for the most part all the pumps are the same but chevy did make some slight changes to the pump case. the nova had a different alt./pd pump set up then the 84 camaro. you will need to go with the camaro pump from now on.
  17. that is a reachable goal for hp on a 307. you can use any 305 heads that flow half way decent and like a comp cams 268h cam with a good intake/carb and you should be able to reach that number easy.
  18. i have been chevking out the site for a while now and i have decided to buy a 280z and do the conversion. i was just wondering if there is any one in or around the phoenix area who migh be willing to let me check out thier ride or offer some help when i get started.
