  1. that or I'll blow it up

Haha. Good luck at the track man, lemme know how it goes for ya.

Ive been looking around Lexington for other Z owners.. I know their here, but their hiding or something, lol.

  2. Ok.. I had a V8 conversion planned for whenever my car is back in one peice and pretty again but the more reading I do.. the more I'm leaning towards an L28ET. The ease of installation and relative cheapness is also a plus. I am also somewhat obsessed with forced induction. When I was 16, before I got my Z I rode in a twin turbo, 9 second daily driven Mustang (god what a car that was..). It left quite an impression. Since that day forced induction has always held a special place in my heart. Gas prices are also very quickly becoming a factor.

Im just curious to hear from you guys.. What led you all the L28 and not a V8/RB/Whatever swap? How do you all think it stacks up against the V8's? Also, how does the engine "feel"? Is it a high-strung, responsive little bastard or "buildup" kinda engine? (hit the gas and it takes a second, but when it goes.. it friggen GOES)?

I dunno.. Still tossing the idea around. I have about a year to a year and a half before I really have to make a decision, lol, so I have some time to sit on it. My goals are simple really, nothing outlandish and record breaking. I would like a mid to high 12 second car putting down about 300rwhp. Not a super budget build by any means but far from special. I see quite a few poeple here running 250+rwhp.

  3. That blows something fierce. Atleast they didnt shred it though.

Car alarms are worth their weight in gold. Thankfully, atleast while around my home, I have a 190pd Mastif on hand to lets me know when anyone approachs the house he doesnt know.

  4. Thanks guys.

Rear quarters, roof and rockers are almost done being prepped for prime/paint and once I get the rear, hatch area and all the glass edgeing done I gotta start on the interior.. which, well. Bah.

Thanks for the info, trying to arm myself with a battle plan before I start, lol.

  5. I did a search about getting this crap off and came up with some info about using an air chisel, which I do not have..

I also did a search for undercoating removal on the underside of the car and came up with some good info involving solvents and such.

I was curious though.. Is the undercoating in the interior (mainly tranny tunnel and rear hatch area) the same as the junk on the bottom of the car? Has anyone successfully removed this stuff and if so, what method(s) did you use?

    Just curious.

  6. Damn that is pretty.

I'll trade you my some cats for it. I have like three extra at the moment. One is quiet and loving, one is mean and loud, and one is just loud.

Yeah.. I dunno what it would be worth man, I really dont.

  7. "

Especially since the skyline's driver had never driven a RHD car before. :P"

It can be a bit different. I never had any real adjustment period, I was used to it in about 15 minutes after I drove it for the first time - but then again, I wasnt on a race track in a 700hp car. Stock Fairlady puttering around town for the win.

  8.

For a variety of cars with electronic fuel injection engine control, the SPINNER EXHAUST TIP has the beneficial effect to eliminate the initial hesitation of the engine under rapid acceleration. Furthermore, the exhaust gases emanating from the tailpipe will be uniformly dispersed into the atmosphere. In some instances the speed of the vehicle will be sufficient to create a negative presence at the outlet of the exhaust tailpipe to assist in the evacuation of the exhaust gases."

    Are you f-kin kidding me?

I.. um, hell. I dont even know what to friggen say.

Just.. I'm just gonna walk away..

  9. The corporate culture somehow manages to seek out, further train and display some of the finest examples of the phrase "raging asshat" imaginable.

It amazes me on a deep level that these hollow soulless creatures babbling about team work and pro-active outlooks and whatever other managment buzzwords they learned that day can go home and look themselves in the mirror and not break down and kill themselves with something sharp.

    Honestly.

At some point you have to pry yourself away from whatever corporate entity you've superglued yourself to and actually exist as a real, whole and functional human being. Most of these fantastic fucktards never will however.

The end result is those of us unwilling to sell our souls (or those of us born with actual personalities) often times end up "under" these camal-turds of humanity. It takes *alot* not to physicly attack them sometimes.

    I feel for you.

  10. This may not be the appropriate place to post this but I didnt see any place that seemed more fitting.

I'd like a price check on an engine and transmission I have. I'm considering selling them to help pay for the cost of the air compressor I have to buy here soon but I really dont know whats fair to ask. (Fair to me and the buyer).

    Heres what I have:

L24 out of my 72 Fairlady. Complete MINUS the carbs. Intake is still attached and I have the fuel rail but the carbs are gone and I need to keep the linkage. The bottom end has about 80k on it. The engine has been stored, in the car in a cool dry storage facility out of the elements for the last 5 years, rotated a couple times a year. The head was pulled and rebuilt by a local machine shop as well as decked and cleaned up, looks brand spanking new. New oil pressure unit, new fuel pump, new starter, new cap and rotor, new 8mm Accell plug wires, chrome valve cover(a little worn but still looks good), new water pump and a header (I dont know the brand, its a long tube and rusted and ugly, but in perfect working order.). The engine is clean. Also, when I say "new" items I mean they have less than 1k miles on them.

5 Speed transmission is out of a 76 280z. Newer clutch (has about 25k on it) the transmission has around 130k on it. Shifts well, never had any problems out of it. No leaks that I'm aware of. No shift knob. (I used the Fairladys original and am keeping it).

Pics can be provided if required. One I have on hand atm is below.

I'm just curious as to what a fair asking price would be for this motor and transmission. If its not much (I know not having the carbs is a major downer) I'll just hold on to it but being decidely broke but very eager to get the 240 resto underway I'm trying to atleast explore my options.

Edit, You can see the back of the air cleaner in the pic, that is all I have. The rest was lost somehow or another.

  11. There used to be an 88 or 89, faded blue, peice of crap honda civic 4 door hatchback thing around town. I havent seen it in a few years so I dunno what became of it.. but it was one of the 4x4 Civics that look like tiny minivans..

I have no idea what it had in it, but he had relocated the engine into the rear. 4 banger of some type but I never could get close enough for an exact ID. I remember seeing him SMASH most cars around town. It had windshield wiper LED's, sounded like *** and looked about the same, but man it was *fast*.

At some point in my life, I am hellbent on buying and modifying a Chevette into something terribly fast. Nothing beats the look on poeples faces when they lose to something like that. I used to have a Toyota Paseo I swapped the j-spec 5efhe into with a couple other tidbits. It was slow, but it was still able to beat the average ricer idiot and I could hold up ok against V6 'Stangs and the like. God I loved revving at poeple in the thing.. I got some of the greatest looks imaginable..

  12. Well, the reason I was asking was because ZR is available in cans, and at the moment, and probably for a while yet, I wont have the money for an air compressor + paint gun + paint + crap to build a paint booth.

I want to get started on the body work as soon as I can but I dont want to spend alot of time stripping and grinding only to have the area rust a little on me in the month or so before I can get the compressor and paint supplys.

  13. Thankya kindly.

Gonna do my best to update it as I go. Looks like I wont be able to pull the engine for a few more days, so I may go ahead and start some of the dinky body work and surface rust *** kicking.
