  1. No doubt, I love the look...but I wasn't asking for a specific reason. More of a "How do they do that?" inquiry...because I see stuff like this: and I will confess, I have some exhaust tubing laying around and I need a bed frame...figured I might practice my welding and bring a bit of the shop home with me. Thanks for all the info!
  2. Oh, I thought the last one was angled. I'm not necessarily going to use the pie cut method anywhere (I'm a fan of the "easy way") I asked mainly out of curiosity and for future reference. Thanks for all the help and info!
  3. Isn't there 6 sections in the above picture, the two end only being cut on one side and the middle four cut on both?
  4. Assuming the angle is 90*, this would be correct?
  5. Sounds so easy after I read it, but I was a horrible geometry student, so thank you very much for your help!
  6. Miter, thats the word I couldn't come up with, thank you. Now, onto something more automotive, is there a similar way to calculate the size of "pie pieces" for something such as intercooler piping? a la:
  7. Can somebody explain how to cut tubing (3/4" square in this case) that when one piece flipped 180*, you'll get your desired angle? It's hard to explain so I added a pic: I know if I cut the tubing at 45*, and rejoin them, I'll get a 90* angle. What if I want a 110*? It's not for my car, I'm putting wheels on my Reddy Heater, but it never hurts to learn something new.
  8. hmmm...maybe I haven't been comparing apples to apples...
  9. I know price isn't always an indicator of quality, but the BW turbos are significantly more expensive than Garrett, any opinions of whether they're worth it?
  10. I was actually looking for that thread, thank you.
  11. Good info, I will look into the BW set-up.
  12. Sorry, shoulda specified...S13...I know this isn't an S-chassis forum, but the RBer's here are some of the most knowledgeable and helpful I've found.
  13. I'm coming to the point in my build (fabbing piping for FMIC, exhaust, etc)and I'm still not sure what kind of turbo will suit my needs. I picked up a T78 from a fellow RB26'er for a pretty good price, but I'm starting to think it may not be the right direction (it also needs a rebuild and a V-band flang welded onto the exhaust housing), so I don't want to throw good money after bad. The goal is a 6-700hp. street car with some occasional strip time...I think the T78 maybe too top-end heavy for my use...plus, it's an old turbo. What is everyone else running? I'm not afraid to do my own research, but honestly, I don't know how to read a compressor map and apply it to my needs. So I'm looking for suggestions on turbos and if anyone knows of a good place to learn to read turbo maps, please link me to it. engine specs that may help: Eagle rods 87mm CP pistons B Poncams Full Ferrea valvetrain I'm sorry for my ignorance, but any and all help is appreciated.
  14. It depends what mount kit you're using. I think (not 100%) that the cut pan only works with Syko mounts and an R33 GTS-T cross member. This is the set-up I'm using and the fit is great, set's the motor in the bay really well. For more info, check this link, I just took those pics to the guy that modified my pan and he fixed me up. He told me that the cutting was a lot more difficult than we anticipated.
  15. The one at thenismoshop is the same one I have...
  16. I just DL'd the RB25DET engine manual, but it makes no mention of the transmission (specifically the mounting and clutch installation). I was wondering if anyone had a link to the full R33 manual...thanks in advance!
  17. I was on the opposite end of the exchange rate fluctuation. I went to buy my pump and the price actually went down about $100. Guess it's just on of those things it pays to keep an eye on. From the Yen/USD forecasts I've read, the rate will be at it's best around July, about 95JPY/1USD. Start saving your nickles!
  18. Got my Tomei oil pump from them, I know, I jumped in head first! I am very happy I decided to go with them, here's why... The good: -The prices on the site are what you pay, no exchange rate issues like I've had with Nengun. -Fast shipping, left Tokyo on the 21st(their time), arrived via EMS on the 22nd (our time, east coast) -Great communication, less than 24 hours to respond to my questions even on weekends. -Well packaged. Tomei box, packed in bigger box, with peanuts and a JDM news paper...6 page ad for a bicycle store....crazy. The bad: -Sales tax, about 5% of the price of the item+shipping. -Tomei pump was back ordered (at the price, not a surprise). They informed me of the back order, how many they'd be getting from Tomei, how many were spoken for and estimated ship date well before I ordered. I'd give them a 9.5 out of 10, just because I didn't see anywhere on their site where they mentioned sales tax, but everything else was excellent.
  19. Their prices look good, just wondering if any US customer's have dealt with them...
