  1. Yeah I was just saying the upside with still going datsun would be that sticking with the TA would kill me in insurance @ 20yo. With the datsun, I'd prolly be able to get a specialty car policy far cheaper, since I hardly even drive.
  2. Yeah most cost will def be bags. Still... I'm expecting to get screwed enough by insurance rates that it'll really hurt to keep it.
  3. My confusion is mostly about your "second car". If a collector car policy requires you to be insured on a second car ALSO, what qualifies for that second car. My situation if I get a Z will be this... I'd have the Z, drive VERY minimal miles, usually only ONE-MILE trips between my dorm and house. My family also owns a 97 Suburban, a 95 Volvo 960 (recently out of commission due to piston slap!), and a 2000 Kia Sephia (POS). Anyway, me, my mom, dad, and sister are all insured as drivers on all 3 of those cars. Is that enough for me to qualify for the collector car policy, or do I personally need to buy a second driveable car to insure myself under?
  4. BEFORE the wreck. Probably 95% mint condition.
  5. I'm going home this afternoon, I'll TRY to remember to take my camera and get pics.
  6. Yeah.. hopefully there are still some Zs floating around Tulsa these days... I gotta find one!
  7. O yeah, as far as pinouts and everything... for anyone else reading this thread wanting to swap F-body motors... this may be of some reference help... http://www.shbox.com Idk if most LT1-Z guys knw about that site or not, but definately all LT1-TA/Formula/Z28 guys do... great reference site. Drew
  8. Gotcha. Don't know yet.. only been a few days since I totalled my car... I'll try to plan somethin as far as all that by the time that comes around.
  9. Any extra links related to any of that stuff that I should bookmark for later? Also, what all is involved with the wiring mentioned above. I'm fairly oblivious to the nature of car wiring.
  10. What are necessary upgrades as far as suspension and brakes? I am trying to get all expected costs logged.
  11. Gotcha. Well IF I bought an electrical Autometer Speedo, Tach, Fuel Level, Oil Pressure, and Water Temp guages, they would all hook up fine right? No big issues? I think all T56s are electrical speed sensor btw... or at least that is the impression i've always had, and therefore assumed mine is too.
  12. I think TA guages would be pretty useless. Autometer gauges... hmm, more expensive than i guessed.
  13. Apart from my LT1 and T56, what parts can I use from my trans am in a Datsun buildup? Every major mechanical part of it should be good.
  14. Anyone ever seen/used either of these wheels? They are so cheap. Would there be any disadvantages to going with the LIGHTER rim? http://www.mrt-wheels.com/catpages/page06.html#19#Spec http://www.mrt-wheels.com/catpages/page06.html#outlaw
  15. I thought draglites didn't come in the right lug pattern. Is this custom or did I miss something? I'm interested in knowing about this.
  16. Yeah sounds good. Anything else people want to point out? Any thing to look for? Bill offered to check some out for me if I find one near us.
  17. Dude the front parts of the frame are off a little even. I don't know that it would ever be same. After talking to Bill here, I am thinking may just be best to spend like 1500 on an already driveable stock datsun... keep my motor, tranny, etc, and start collecting parts.
  18. Are you telling me to put nitrous on a civic? Is that a joke? I'd never put a single cent into making a honda any faster than stock. EDIT: O, didn't realize you were saying to get a civic WHILE working on the datsun as a project... I thought you meant just give up the datsun idea. What about bill's idea (see below)
  19. I agree wouldn't my same lt1 get better mileage in the Z because of the big weight difference? Less load?
  20. Well that doesn't sound so fun ... LT1 T/A to '91 Civic?
