  3. hey everyone. i finally bought a diagnostic connector for my ls1 and im not sure how to wire it in. i have gotten completely different answers to my questions regarding which wire is which from local mechanics and want to get it right. if anyone knows some help would be appreciated
  4. my guage works fine. it is my damn fans that dont kick on!!
  5. i replaced the collent temp sensor because it looked pretty done. still nothing. i still need to check the continuity from the sensor to the ecm. other than that i know all of the other wiring is good. luckily my azc radiator is enough for cooler weather
  6. i didn't remove the sensor from the head, i put in the datsun one lower down. ill check it though.
  7. continuity to the ecm from the fans is ok, il check the coolent temp sensor though. will the engine run correctly with it not working?? i didn't even think of that. i think the ecm grounds on mine too.
  8. having troubles with my fans again. they are not kicking on. i checked all of my wiring it it is good. the fans work fine too, so no problem there. doesn't seem like im getting a signal from the ecu!!! what could cause this?? perhaps my computer is just screwed
  9. is the trans out of a lt or ls car?? my slave was completely different than the pics that love-my-v8-280z put up. had this funky quick disconnect thing on it
  10. the mcleod part is the entire line. 22 inches long i think, all you need is the line and then a -4 an to 3/8 inverted flare adapter cody
  11. vinh, nice ls1. does that thing have exhaust on it yet?? mine does and it set alarms off everywhere i go!!! i love it. by the way, thanks for the help with my guages, they work now
  12. you can get a quick disconnect line from Mcleod for around 70 bucks, -4 an on the other side. easy, and you dont have to mess with your slave.
  13. horray!!! my guages work!! i was just messing around with the wires and they kicked on. must of been a bad connection somwhere thanks everyone
  14. im not too worried about frying any wires. im running a standalone harness with relays for everything. no old dash wires required except for a starter signal and a switched power (relayed also)
  15. i used existing wires for the 12v constant and ground, and ran new wires directly from the guages to the ecu for signal. both guages power on correctly (tach goes down to zero, speedo jumps to mid-point and then back to zero with the odometer coming on). after that they do nothing. ive checked the wiring a million times but ill check it again. by the way, what do you mean by mark the continuity??
  16. i checked and rechecked my wiring. i even pulled the wires from right out of ecu, switched my tach to 4 cyl, still nothing. nothing nothing nothing. i dont know what to do!! there doesn't seem to be any signal at all coming out of the ecu. i dont know if this has anything to do with it but my odometer's back-light flashes when it's powered. car drives great but it really sucks not having a speedo or tach
  17. messed around with the tach and speedo wiring again today. man this is pissing me off. still nothing. can i even plug autometers directly into the stock ls1 computer?? ive searched and searched and cant find anything helpful
  18. hey thanks, got that hooked up. now another ls1 wiring question. i can not get either my tach or my speedo to work. traced my wiring back all the way to the computer and its good. my ecu doesn't seem to be putting out any signal for either. whats going on?? i had somebody edit my computer could he have deleted the signal output?? im using autometer ultralites by the way
  19. hey thanks, the engine and computer are out of a 99 camaro. i read somwhere that the green is the low and the blue is the high?? is this correct??

  21. Anyways i dont think i was clear with my question, im wondering which of the two cooling fan wires (labeled 1 & 2) out of the ls1 ecu is the high speed fan and which is the low speed fan. i dont need any info on the fan itself
  22. hey guys, i've searched and searched and cant find what i need. i know some of you have used the two speed taurus fan with your ls1 swaps and need to know how you wired it up. which of the factory camaro fans is the high and which is the low?? if not ill just have to start her up and then watch for which relay kicks on first. hope you all put your two cents in first though cody
  23. mcleod sells a line with the quick disconnect on one side and 4an on the other, 22 inches long. nice piece. it cost $70 but is worth not having to hack anything up. the part number is 139213. you can get it from summit too but i think it was backordered

  25. that sounds really easy but where is this place?? im in arizona and there aren't all that many performance shops, or even decent mechanics near me. do you think they would let me ship it to them??
