  1. Hey guys. I just finished installing my m/c ,and slave (T-56). I put a bleeder valve on it. How long do I have to pump and bleed ,before I get full hydralic pressure? I've been at it for a bit,no pressure
  2. Thanks for the reply Jason. The motor is a 400 sbc and has a 168 tooth flywheel. The bolt pattern is staggered on the block. I have a staggered starter but the problem is this: when I fit the starter into position, the holes from the starter do not line up. The holes in the block are off by about 1/2 inch to the right of the starter. I can get a pic if u guys think it might help in solving this problem.
  3. Think I'm gonna have to drill and tap a new hole in the block to fit a starter in this thing. Anyone wanna tell me what I should be careful of,or how to do it.? Thanks,MAXIMUS
  4. Its definitely a 400 sbc. The holes are offset. But when I put in the starter in,the holes dont line up. I need the starter holes to be about half in horizontally out more. does anyone know where I can get a starter that fits? I could drill another hole into the block, straight across, but was advized not to. only as a last resort. Anyone have a part # ? Thanks guys, your all a great help!!
  5. Hi. I'm haveing a heck of time trying to get a fricken starter to fit my 400sbc. The holes are offset. No big deal, but: when I find a starter that has the offset holes, the holes are off by 1/2 inch. Can anyone help?
  6. Hi guys, I'm having tough time understanding how I should ,or what I need to do to hook up my m/c for the clutch. I have a T-56 clutch slave that need a weird looking lock mechanism. It looks like I need to push in a fluid line and install a pin to hold it in. Does anyone know what I mean? Can I cut this off and tap a male npt fitting? Also, will my stock master cylinder work? I can post a pic of my "slave" if need be.
  7. Hi guys, Happy New year, I'm stuck. What do I do about 1)carb linkage for a v8 chev in my 280zx. 2) can I use the original master cylinder for the clutch slave? Please help.I'm soooo damn close to getting this car rolling. Had the motor dyno'd at 480hp,480 ftlbs torque.
  8. wont make a difference. I have an 81 280zx/406 sbc,and I had to get custom headers made. I really wanted the motor to flow,so had no choice
  9. You may have a problem with those truck headers hitting the tranny,Dude. I just finshed putting in a 406 sbc/T56 tranny in my 280zx. Had a set of "TRI-Y" headers that fit close to the block but had to get them heavily modified. Cost me $1,200 with mufflers that stop under the car ,about where the seats are. You can get away cheap if your willing to put in a non power assisted rack and pinion from and older Datsun, but it is labour intense, cause you have to support the engine and change the K member as well. Dont think your gonna win this one that easily, lol
  10. There's no replacement for displacement. Keep it simple. Go for the bigger cubes if ya wanna go faster!
  11. I'm with the doc on this one. It may weigh more than 2200lbs.Maybe 2500. My guess would be low,low 12's. Maybe even high 11's if your lucky.
  12. I'm not useing an lt1. It's a carburated,406 sbc. T-56 tranny with a hydraulic slave to opperate the fork.
  13. can I use a T-5 slave. I was gonna use the stock T-56 slave
  14. I have an 81 280zx /sbc conversion. It came stock with a 390;1 rear end. What is the difference between posi and limited slip. What should my car have in it. I could sometimes get both tires to spin at launch with my old motor. Now with a sbc in it what should I expect? What should I upgrade to?
  15. Hello gentleman, I am just finishing(i hope)a sbc/t-56 install on my 81 280zx. Do I need to change the clutch master cylinder or will the stock one do? What will I need? Thanks guys
  16. What kind of horsepower you getting out of your motor? These guys are right, bigger is not necessarily better. That 600cfm should be plenty if your up around 500hp. I am running a 406 sbc that dynoed at 480hp/480ft/lbs torque Carbed with a 600cfm Holley. just put it in the car, hope to be driving it soon.
  17. Hey guys,I think your a little off topic here. This guy is simply looking for advice. Dont jump down his throat cause he's got a question. DUDE if you want some more advice you can PM me.I'll give you all I know. I know how you feel,i just did a swap myself
  18. Hey Luke, how did you get the header around the steering box on the driver's side?
  19. I've used the JTR kit/mounts. Will their "shorty " headers work for this?
