  1. Clifton. Can you get the measurement from the ground to were the back cross member bolts to the frame? Like you did with the front. It seems to be a bit lower. I think this setup may work for me without sectioning the cross members since I'm replacing the frame rails anyways and the yz kit is 6 inches wider. So I should be able to use a higher offset wheel than normally used with this kit. Any help on the measurement is greatly appreciated.
  2. I have been looking into this option also but have never got a measurement on how wide the rails are on the sc300. Very interested in what you find out. I would like a wider track for the front and as for fenders I'm using the yz kit so this shouldn't be a problem. Someone that doesn't use a wider body kit may get away with just using higher offset wheels. Most of todays sports cars are using wide track widths and high offset wheels. Now I'm no suspension guru by no means. but I like this idea because the whole suspension mounts to the subframe and if you don't go cutting it up you should keep the same suspension geometry.
  3. I'm thinking about selling my TIG welder. It's a Miller syncrowave 200 that I've had for about a year. I've only used it a couple of times, and could use the money to finish my s30 project. It comes with a full bottle of argon that I own not rented. I would like to get 1600.00 for it. If anybody is interested let me know.
  4. yeah I think I'm gonna use one of the r154 based trannys. The supra tranny is pretty easy to find and usualy fairly cheap.
  5. must not be too much of a brick. It did 255mph in only 3 miles on low boost. By now it should be tuned for 30 + psi.
  6. Exactly everyone should check out MONZTER'S photo album!
  7. ah yes. Rad Rides by Troy. Blow fish was in the feb 07 issue of Hotrod magazine. Very interesting Engine combo 175 ci USAC midget block from mopar performance that uses a P5 hemi cyl head big stuff efi t45 turbo and made 1,000 hp and 680 ft lbs of torque at 20 psi. Troy also built Joe Rogans cuda I think it was called Stale Fish another mighty fine ride. Hell everything he builds is top notch.
  8. great info thanks! What style chevy V8 bellhousing older or the ls-1 stuff?
  9. How strong is the r154 trans? I know they have been put behind some strong supras but I plan on putting down some big torque numbers. Just wondering were they start to fail? I have heard the solstice / colorado trans is just an updated version of the r154 (better syncros I think). I really would like to use the tko-600 or r160 its just gonna cost alot more to do. On the ecm situation I haven't researched using the factory ecm because I plan on boosting and I think the factory system will limit what I can do. I have emailed AEM to see if one of there stand alones may work, no response yet. As for pistons and rods the only for sure products out there are the ones glen self is using. The rods are aluminum pieces and you have to get eight at $2000 a set. A little over kill for what I'm trying to do. The pistons are $1000 and you also have to get a set of eight of those. Most piston and rod manufactures require that you buy so many sets before they will make them. As soon as I get a set of factory piston and rods in my hand I plan on trying to match them up to something thats already being built.
  10. requires a custom flywheel but there is a guy on the inliners forums that has had these made so that you can use the colorado clutch and trans. I just haven't decided if thats the route I'm gonna take. as for the ecm I havn't decided on that either I too hope to be able to use the cam phasing. I hope by the time I get all of this together there will be an option. esp since there are so many engines out there that have computer controled cams.
  11. That guy is on the inliners forum and I have pm'ed him for dimensions but no response. I also asked him about info on the trans adaptor, flywheel and clutch. also no response. He cut 2.5 inches off the oil pan and after seing the oil pan and talking to glen self at self racing (the guy that built the 4.2 in the pic above) there is some more room to be cut off. esp if you go with a dry sump. I don't know how tall l28's, rb's or 2jz's are but I think you can get the 4.2's down to around 26 inches. Lots of custom parts and fabrication but thats what makes this fun. I'm in the process of figuring out transmissions. you can bolt up the r154 from the turbo supra, but I would like to get more info on the solstice/ colarado trannys they are said to be real close to the supra trans. other possibilities are the getrag r160 from the tt supras, the tko-600 or t-56. I am 98% sure I will be using this engine in my 73 240z. And will keep everyone posted on my progress.
  12. Thanks for the links. good info on the inliners site.
  13. I'm very interested in doing this swap. the engine is around 30 inches tall with the stock oil pan. I don't know the limitations height wise of the s30 chassis. Trying to do some research on getting a flywheel and my tranny options along with a few other things. I think this would make a great n/a or boosted motor if built correctly. Just not any aftermarket support so everythings gonna be custom.
  14. The ls1's have better heads and you can use the iron lq blocks for more strength. But I belive the the older sbc stuff has better oil flow. This is stock for stock. Both have there pros and cons. You can overcome either of the two's weekness' when you start building the motor for boost. Most aftermarket parts (pistons, rods, cam) are gonna be around the same price for the two.
  15. I love METALMEET.COM!!! I have lost a bunch of sleep.
  16. that would be an r200
  17. very interested in this project. I was wondering when do you plan on having these ready for the public? I'm torn on doing something like this or putting the whole s14 rear susp under my s30.
  18. craigt a little off subject but what gbox adaptors/ bellhousings do you offer for the toyota 2jz motor? I know the getrag 6 speed is a nice tranny just expensive and hard to come by. would like to do a t-56 or tko600.
  19. I don't have the turbo 2jz but i have several 2jzge's and the getrag is a nice tranny just very rare and expensive compared to the tremec units. So the benefits would be price, availability, and future rebuilds would be cheaper.
  20. does anyone know if there is an adaptor or bellhousing to mount a tremec t56 or tko600 to a 2jz if so who makes this very interested
