  1. Thank you for the info. Well things just got a little more complicated. I called an old military friend who's into supras, he has an 1989 turbo supra with 50,000 original miles in his garage thats been crashed. He said I can have the motor,5speed,ecu and anything I need off the car for $300.00 bucks. From what I remember it is a very big engine. The fab work I can do it's the electrics were I see problems, also front spring rates for the weight diff. I'll go coil over in that dept. I'll be retiring in 5 months from the mil. and that's when I'll start the project. Any pre preparation info or where to look would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  2. I have a complete FI engine and all acc. from an 83zx. I want a reliable daily driver with more power than my L24. I've installed the 5speed and r200 rear but am unsure of the complicated looking FI L28. What are the pros and cons of using my carbs vs getting the FI in working condition. I will be able to do all the work myself. The car really needs more power without going V8 or turbo, tired of getting spanked by little toyotas. Thanks for any info.
  3. I solved my stinky exhaust problems by pointing my exhaust tip to the side, behind the left rear tire under the bumper. Just cut a round hole and stick that supertrap out the side. I drive about 4,000 miles a month on the interstate in my 71 240 and it was killing me, problem fixed zero fumes. Karl

  6. Thank you. I have the cathode (negative) side of the diode facing the alt. attached to the wire coming off the top spade of the T-connector that plugs into the back of the alt. Should it be attached to the lower wire of the T-connector? I'll try that and also I'll check to see if the diode is blown. It's a 3amp 200volt diode, is that enough? Thank you again for your help.   7. Hi Daniel, I was hoping you could help me with a problem I'm having with my car. I put an 83 zx alternator in my 71 240z and now my car will not turn off with the key, I just stall the engine with the clutch. I removed the old VR and put a diode on the back of the new alt. but It's still not working. Any help would be appreaciated. Thanks Karl

  9. I installed it from the wire that comes off the harness to the back of the T-connector that plugs into the alt. Which wire did you attach the diode to on the voltage reg. (white,yellow,black/white stripe or white/black stripe)? Thanks. BTW the car has 165,000 miles on it and I drive it about 4,000 miles per month, almost all at night. I need a good alt. to see the deer.
  10. I checked it and it's on the correct way. Thanks. It's a 3amp 200v diode. Does it matter which wire on the T-connector it's on, I have it on the top wire of the connector. Thanks again for any help
  11. WOW! didn't see that one coming, haha. I use the clutch to stall the engine when I need to turn it off. BTW love Jacksonville, used to run shifter karts there a few years back.
  12. Put in 83zx alt in my 71z rewired voltage reg. and installed diode on T-connector with stripe on diode facing alt. Now car will not turn off. The diode I used is from Radio shak part #1N5402. Please any help would be appreaciated. Thanks
